Debate Quality Pyramid

Boy, do people on here ever suck at debating. Even when they have blatantly lost and it is clear to see, they're still going to try to wiggle out of it and pretend like they actually won.

The pyramid of debate quality can solve a big part of that. It makes it easy to gauge where a discussion is at, which of the participants has the upper hand, and in the best case scenario, how to get back on track.

As roughly 99% of the users here seem to have absolutely no clue about any of that, I say it should be pinned to the frontpage.

I don't generally debate people. I tend to more often than not just state things how they are. When someone is speaking that I disagree with I do my best to listen and consider their position before I make any appeal to them. Most times I will forego any appeal and try to see things as they see it. When that can't be done, I will argue you out of your favorite suit, because I wouldn't take on the debate otherwise.

Do you think people would be this engaged if that was true for them? No way. There is a lot of actual debate going on, no doubt about that. It's just not very high quality.
