THAT Ted Talk about America
There was recently a TED Talk that blew up, far surpassing their videos' usual view counts of around 50k, reaching 3.2 million views in just 5 days. It also has quite a lot of interaction (likes, comments) for a video of its view count, and has sparked various discussions and reactions.

The Ted Talk discusses how young people in the US are worse off financially than ever before. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Great video, absolutely explains why the military-industrial-corporate-healthcare complex is doing what it is doing to kill the US economy over the past few generations via transfer of wealth from today's youth in the form of cumulative debt, then blinded them with socialist media to not only prevent them from seeing what is actually happening to them, make them glad to do it.

Well it's a combination of factors, such as cost of living, wages below the inflation rate, people having 2-3 jobs just to survive, cost of a house, cost of education, cost of health care, cost of mental health, (new issue) opioid overdose crisis, (new issue) fentanyl overdose crisis, around 40 millions living in poverty, etc.

Overall it's old news, have people forgotten how the Occupy Wall Street movement got infiltrated and broken down? Eventually the govt & their buddies at Corporations will get bored of kicking their own people while they're down, or the average citizen will organize to vote new politicians that shouldn't turn into generic geriartric career politicians that only look for themselves and lobbyist money, be it from Corporations & special interest groups, think tanks, etc.

Edit: TL:DR the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, has been the status quo for quite a while AFAIK, just that post covid the situation has deteriorated at an accelerated pace ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So far the US has given Ukraine about $75 billion in aid to fight their cowboy and Indian war with Russia.

Just remember that next time you break down and cry because you can't afford groceries or pay your phone bill.

Imagine if that 75 billion went into creating jobs and helping our country, but that would make me a dirty socialist, right?

Where do you think the majority of that money is being spent?

young people in the US are worse off financially than ever before.

This has been true in places like California since the 1980s.

Source: people I know who lived there then, and had to escape to survive financially. Even back then, it took 2 1/2 jobs, a couple working 100 hours per week total, to afford an average middle class lifestyle. It's just spread across the rest of the country.

It isn't Russian propaganda to acknowledge the younger generation is worse off financially.

Yea sending Ukraine endless billions to liquidate slavic men because Biden and Hunter need to hide their crimes is not American First.

Foreign accounts cheering on neolib democrat foreign wars are tiresome, especially when they won't get in the trench, they are always too good to spend their own blood on an agenda they just got fed yesterday.

As for the talk, open borders, money printing and forever wars are of course going to screw the next generation. Its supply and demand while burning money.

Just asking is it really worse than the 70s in America?

Seen people talk about holding two or three jobs with minimal sleep for years on end to provide for their families in the 70s.
Chaosolous 8. mai 2024 kl. 9.11
This is the first generation in awhile to do worse than their parents before them.

It's statistically more likely for children who come from privileged, more affluent, households to do "worse" in terms of personal economic gains or "wealth accumulation." It's important to note this is when compared to their parent's own accomplishments on average.

But, that doesn't address wealth disparity, in which more affluent youth have a better chance to obtain a higher port of entry where they enter the job market. (More affluent = better entry jobs into the workforce = higher wealth potential) It is certainly more difficult for non-affluent children as it is still possible, in a sense, for wealthy children to "fail up."

These days, though, it appears that those who do come from more affluent backgrounds tend to be plagued more by dissatisfaction, a lack of direction, and depression, than others from less affluent backgrounds.
