that's surprising. I thought that was sort of a niche genre

hmmm... I think platformers and action games (where you brawl and fight with swords 'n stuff) are my mains. I played a lot of metroidvanias the past few months, and have my eye on a few other platformers

My top three categories of 2023 were Space, Colony Sim, and Warhammer 40k.

"movement shooter" which tends to mix up with boomer shooter but movement shooter is basically a hybrid that focuses on speed in my eyes

Definitely first-person tactical shooters, followed by visual novels and strategies.. I think.
Some racing simulators and rhytm games from time to time, too, but those have had to be dropped due to the loss of interest or due to the lack of time over the years, just like the strategies that I've kind of dropped eventually.

So, that does leave me with FPS and visual novels. Yeah.
