Depends which model. Lot's of variables here.

Laptop
This is the problem. Most of them are POS. If you want a reliable one, Thinkpad.

It depends. Regarding to the quality. Expect that every model from every brand will have problems. Nothing is perfect

I've heard Dells are pretty good. They could be a little on the expensive side.

No, the one I had literally just stopped working after a few years. Powered off randomly, black screen, never turned on again lol.

In mega manufacturing it is very hard to give a guarantee especially with all the models out there.

At some point in the past Acer was a good strong brand for quality.

no idea about now.

Laptop is laptop. They're all good cheap alternatives to desktop PCs but they still haven't figured out how to cool them properly

It is.

However, if you're looking for a gaming laptop, it is more cost-effective to just build a PC. :Yoru:
Acer has built a reputation for good bang-for-buck laptops, however they tend not to be exceptional in any way.

Personally, I'd go for a Lenovo ThinkPad or a Framework laptop. Right now, the ThinkPad is a must because the TrackPoint is simply the best pointing device on a laptop.

Dells are pretty good, but a bit slow. I'm using a retired business model 2012 Dell latitude E6330, with a core i5 v-pro. The only thing that sucks about it is the hard drive speeds, and it can only be upgraded to 8 gb of ram. But it's reliable.

Why don't you get an SSD for it?

Idk why, but another appeal of a Thinkpad is the durability. Those things are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unkillable no matter what you do to them. You could cut one in half and it would probably still boot up
