Because it doesn't do anything FOR YOU, the consumer. That's why it is called anti-consumer. And in reality, it doesn't seem to do much for anyone else either. In case of Denuvo, it hampers performance. In case of Steam, it requires you to run their client. Pirates win because they get the same game without all of this BS.

Yeah but Pirates don't contribute to the work that is done, therefore, no one will get better games in the future.

Very easy to get all the games for free, but people don't... cause it isn't right.

That isn't true. Piracy has always been a thing, but no dev has to sleep under a bridge. Whether you care about morality or not is up to you. But that is separate from the technical aspects.

You guys should be talking about the DRM games that have fixed matchmaking for COMPETITIVE games... based on the data that have on you, they collected by some grey means.... the matchmaking is kinda like some places on the net like social media doing a social background search or "social credit" scam that ignores basic human dignity.

If I like you, you get higher chances of getting teammates like you.... if I don't like you, I get teammates who will hate you and will not work with you, or I will pair you with teammates who are causal, teammates who are not well mentally, teammates who are unhealthy so on so on... I have not collected all the data on the matchmaking algo.... yet.

Tries to stop people from playing pirates games
Specifically it tries to protect the initial sales of the games... but it's also invasive, poses a security risk (specifically the kernel level ones) and may affect performance, iirc. And it can permanently kill games, like that Tron game that cannot be played legally because no one bothered prolong the DRM contract, or something like that.

It is also illegal for me to collect data on the match making algo.... CAUSE IT'S a DRM GAME!! lol

It's all a giant scam my friend, I don't plan on using the internet or a cell phone in my old age, if I make it to an old age. Look forward to your scam phone calls on the potato phone.

You could also rethink the whole system and make the internet/Web a completely "free" service, as it is like the pubic library. The pubic library is a public service, where the internet is more of a joke made by some hippes.

Slow games down, limit the activations, can revoke your license. Reasons why I refuse to buy Far Cry 3 on PC.

Now that games require servers to run as roundabout way of DRM, almost every game that requires a server by the game publisher is theoretically only going to last as long as the server stays operational.

They will tell you the internet was made by the military, but these are lies... most of the terms geek or nerd... links back to the hippes.

People now have to buy a new computer to fit with the new requirements 'for their own good' .
Can't they just upgrade the OS?

Even if this is the case, it still seems like a non issue because Windows OS releases are usually years apart.

1. it depends what the OS requires from the hardware.

2. if a person likes their OS and computer it is an issue.
2.1 Windows releases can become outdated or have a major security flaw or becomes so unpopular it is not supported for very long. Microsoft and other companies may want to push their luck a bit on making people buy more systems with the new OS that require only those new systems.

If there is a sudden new big threat to computers and the only way you can protect them is through a power guzzling anti threat program with hardware to match then you must upgrade to the new OS.

The stuff that is going on evolution wise in computers is swift, major and increasing limits is becoming exponential.

With a DRM the consumer is at the mercy of having to upgrade.
A user like myself whose games mainly from another shop / platform can carry on playing without upgrading.

How long before AI is used to make motherboards and OS ?
not long.

For Windows 10 users, there are no upgrades.

11 is a huge, completely unacceptable step backwards. Seriously, give Kubuntu or Mint a try. There are no real alternatives.

If You want to buy games without DRM You need to buy them on GOG. Then You can install them whenever and wherever You want.

Some steam games also allow this, but most require steam.

Basically DRM means they can come into your house and take a game off your shelf and there's nothing you can do.

The internet.
