Mice are stupid
Jerry from Tom must be some kind of Einstein among mice. I have a caught a mouse in a big cardboard box right now, it went in there by itself and all I did was close the flaps and put a weight on top. I expected it to start digging itself out, which it can easily do, but it has been two days and it's still in there. Instead it seems to try to jump out from the top, which it cannot.

Box seems intact. It is still alive and in the box because I can hear it moving around, there's garbage in it. Not foodstuffs but discarded plastic packaging and such. It will probably be able to find some crumbs though.

people who keep birds usually let them out of the cages frequently

I don't know if I believe that. Why doesn't it escape then? Even if they do, it will be in there for days at a time as well. And for years all together.

Or you could be concerned about scientists who do all kinds of cruel things to animals. Or things like glue traps which people catch mice with. This mouse in a box right here pales in comparison.
u usually close the windows before u let the birds out.. and once u have deeper bonds u can indeed let it fly outside too.. and yes, some do escape, lots of cities have foreign tropic birds roaming the city

and to the other point, Im already concerned about those forms of animal abuse, glue traps are also illegal in my country

I already live my life in a box. Lots of people do, in a a way. An office where you have to be 40+ hours every week is also a box. Except they don't starve.
Your analysis is awful. Yes people work in offices but they can leave go outside and do what they want. They are not trapped there 24/7 with no food or water. That mouse is trapped no where to go no food no water in a small box with no escape. So all you are doing is abusing the poor mouse for your entertainment.

No it is a large box, which I have mentioned several times. I think there are cages for mice and hamsters and such which are about the same size or smaller. And it is made of cardboard. So it can escape if it needs to. It just doesn't (yet?).

No matter how you justify it you are still abusing the animal.

Not really. Almost everything you can do, like setting them free, will result in their death. Or getting back into your house. Also it is guilty for breaking and entering and therefore it deserves punishment.

And you told me to kill it! That's supposed to be better? People don't usually think about it like that when it is about humans.

It's a wild animal they know how to defend themselves. Pet mice, birds, rats, hampsters, guinea pigs etc. Don't have the skills to hunt and defend themselves because they was born in captivity.

Right, so this is cruel but when a cat gets it it isn't.

That is nature it's what nature does. It's a cats instinct to hunt mice and birds.

You keeping it in a box with no water and food is cruel and inhumane.

I don't think so. It's still a house mouse and I've read that those won't survive in the wild. It wasn't just about the captive ones.

Well then I'll just identify as a cat. Problem solved.
Like when a lion kills a zebra it's not cruel it's nature being nature.
