Beans are part of chilli.

Without beans it's just spicy mince.

Without Shelby giving Larry the loan there might not have been a Chili's.

N3tRunn3r Apr 24, 2024 @ 4:30pm
better potatoes than any other :DSTpoop: as ketchup ..
kingjames488 Apr 24, 2024 @ 4:31pm
what do potatoes have to do with ketchup?

I only consider chilli... chilli if it has beans.
saranacX Apr 24, 2024 @ 4:49pm
100% yes.

I prefer all-meat chili more as a topping for other things, such as baked potatoes or hot dogs.

The wife makes a great three-bean chili with ground turkey (and lately Beyond Meat sausage) that's really good.

Fortunately, we live far enough north that it isn't illegal.

Yes, but it shouldn't have TOO MANY beans.

Texas cookoffs sound very boring. I understand their angle, but there's only so many ways to make chilli without introducing new non-spice ingredients...

Beans...

I mean, if you want to be a "chilli" purist then the literal translation of "chille con carne" is hot peppers with meat... so unless you're eating a stew of meat and hot peppers you're doing it "wrong".
