Do you think universities and colleges should ban phones and laptops?
Nothing says free education like listening over someone elses device while they did pay for a lesson.

when I went to college, when the teacher wasn't there everyone went straight in their phones :sadMio:

If classes didn't have teachers to make people talk, people might never have. Except lunch, they must not have wanted dirty phones

They were in fact banned in the school I went to. Immediate confiscation if you're caught using such a device in class.
It was a good imo.

If I had the money, I would pay professional debaters to pose as students and push my agendas in classes where other agendas are being pushed. This is purely speculation, I'd likely find a better way to spend my money by the time I got around to it. Since mockingbird isn't going to continue working indefinitely, the CIA may need some new ideas on how to better brainwash the citizens of the usa, heres one for you guys. don't say i never you gave you anything.

In grade school, most of my teachers forbade phone usage during the lessons unless they specifically instructed it. In college, they usually didn't care because they got paid regardless if how well I did; it was my future after all, not theirs. Heck, many of my college classes recommended laptops due to the workload, especially when Covid hit and they had to switch to online classes for a bit.

It's up to the teacher. I had a professor who banned phones and laptops during his lectures. If you were on one he'd kicked you out. Honestly, the professors get paid either way. He/She shouldn't care less if students choose to fail.

The point of uni is kids learn to be independent and responsible for their own actions. Let them reap what they sow.

No. I think they should ban the people who use them when the rules have been so clearly stated.

People who live in countries that believe in freedom of speech should not be told to leave their country for using it, especially, by people who live in the same country.

That's an oxymoron here is as these Uni kids won't know what they will reap until they sow it. As we universally know they are just paper experts trying really too hard to have any credence in a world that just finds them funny until they actually grow up with relevant adult 'arguments.

Nobody believes in education these days as meaningful because these loons are so definite they are beyond being told stuff and they know it all because they have the internet :-/

Unless you pick business or hospitality, what you said are overly exxaggerated internet belief.

Well unless you prefer to get treated by "doctor" that diagnose you via webMD. Or architect that calculate the foundations of your house by asking chatGPT. Perhaps your cheetos inspected by someone who cram their ISO by some pdf they find on the internet.

The only time i saw a phone in school was the last highschool i went to, a girl had one and kept texting her friends in class.
