Americans can't name countries
https://youtu.be/umpalMtQE50?si=aej8oPv3KBx3_bp-

Do Americans learn about other countries and cultures around the world in their formal education?

In this video, the Americans can barely name countries on their own continent, let alone in Asia and Africa.

Is this clip representative of Americans or is it an exaggeration?

States are closer to "mini-republics" than countries but they are not countries.

They are still under federal law and it is illegal for any state to secede from the United States or issue their own currency.
Is it legal for Scotland to secede without permission or for it to issue its own currency? Again I'm not saying States are countries but they are just as much countries as what the UK calls countries.

The technical intricacies of what territories are named are quite interesting.

Countries, states, municipalities, oblasts, provinces.

I'm not an expert but I assume they wanted to label them as countries to acknowledge the many centuries of history, culture, and wars.

Having certain states that have for example decriminalised marijuana, despite it remaining illegal under federal law, shows that states are not always willing to enforce federal law.

I'm sure there are lots of inclusions and exclusions depending on individual circumstances.

There's not some strict regulation on what countries name their territories.

The 10th Amendment guarantees State governments have certain autonomies, in theory. Of course, historically the Commerce Clause and Supremacy Clause and the magic words "national security" have been used to completely ignore 10A and the entire Bill of Rights.

All nations have their fair share of dumb people. Here's one from the UK.

Seems normal to me. We just don't know much about Canada. Mexico could make up almost anything too and most americans wouldn't know.

The 24 hour clock one though, was funny.

I don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know what "latinx" is and speaking a language in the same linguistic branch does not constitute an ethnicity. In fact, there are hundreds of ethnicities in America.
It's a gender-neutral term for Latino.

There are hundreds of native cultures in the US and they are extremely different but have somewhat similar backgrounds and commonalities that require them to have an umbrella term, whether that's Latino or Latinx is another subject but don't be surprised that the anglosphere has a need for such a term.
Well, that is just very discriminatory. The "anglosphere" has no right to throw very different peoples under one generic term, specially when they'll generalize them/us, usually with hatred and prejudice.

No wonder the average Anglo-American sucks st Geography: they're taught to make very bad groupings and care very little about others.

I'm quite certain that many other people in other countries can't do certain things too..

Some videos/people are just biased.
