I once knew someone who worked as a "sex dating" chat person... they had like 6 accounts simultaneously with fake photos and all they were doing was leading those men on as long as possible (they had to pay for using the chat) and never actually meeting.

so, iirc, it was when those two guys started their camgirl websites in the 2000's using their girlfriends, after everyone realized they were multi millionaires in the 2015's, and the truth of the fake nature of that industry, and how you can keep the viewer compartmentalized, and entirely unknowing of the reality of the situation- the entire thing fake, from start to finish. with almost zero operating cost..

they realized there's a huge cash cow there. male lust and drive to satisfy it.

so, these men become easy marks.

dating sites at that point took a page from that book, and changed from an 'organic meeting model' to a 'we're going to trickle feed you stuff that potentially doesn't even exist to keep you fighting for that carrot. fighting hard enough to hand over your money.' using chatgptbots, and paid actors/actresses to play the part of a catfish.

ahhhh, i should have got some match group stocks pre-covid lol. but thats ok, there's always something just as sinister around the next corner. a new remix on an old trick just waiting to be used again.

I remember my first and last interaction with one of these apps. Literal copy pasted messages from "women". I know for sure they were robots and not humans because I saw the exact same copy pasted message several times from different people.
