Dang... I was going to say that.
lack of creativity and only politic ♥♥♥♥
There is limited market for it, that makes good money for most of the studios and now there are just too many shows, so they keep lowering the bar.
Today's one or two good series a year out of probably 300+ series (if you include Japan, South Korea and China shows, but exclude Americas and Europe made ones), those couple of shows are below average compared to the stuff that came out ten plus years ago that was considered good/great.
More so the further back in time you go, when art was actually detailed and animated really well. Story telling, music and voice acting was much better too, there were more original ideas and topics being explored.
Sad really.
All the computer assisted drawing and soon to be AI assisted has done, has allowed them to race to the bottom of the barrel for ideas and story telling.
Probably why you see a thread every month asking something like, recommend me a good anime to watch that is underrated, etc.
In short its overly commercialized and they have become corporate main stream sellouts, averse to taking a risk and doing something unique/interesting, at the same time falling into the trap of junk violence/over sexualization and copying old ideas with minimal effort.
Maybe what we are seeing is the Westernization of Anime as they greedily try to tap into more of the western markets, there is a notable decline of Japan or Korea cultural reinforcements, China ones are very heavy with theirs still.
Maybe that is what is going on, that is why the stories are getting dumber and dumber, they seen what "official dubbing" does to their story telling so maybe this is their retort, if garbage sells, we make garbage, its way easier than quality.
