Can pushing a power cord in too hard cause problems? (PS5)
I tend to check my power cord very frequently to make sure it's in fully, I do this just by pushing it in not removing the power cord from the PS5. Could doing this too often cause problems?

EDIT: for anyone wondering why I check it frequently it's because I have OCD.

Yeah, you probably could. just leave it alone.

I imagine as long as you're not being forceful it should be fine. Maybe some fatigue of the materials after many thousands of fiddlings but unlikely if not forceful.

but why do it anyway?

it is in , check it is in and leave it alone. No need to touch it for months on end.
You already have a problem. Power cord paranoia

That's what I thought. But it's not like forgetting if you locked a door, right? It won't fall out on its own, and even if it would you would notice immediately. There's not really anything to be afraid of I would think.

Experience with that. We had a 60KG door fall out of its frame flat down due to fatigue believe me when I say the entire Office heard it up to 5 stories high.

Lol that might not be good for OP to hear

You'll probably wear out the wire/connector unless you do it properly every single time.

I know this might not help because you have OCD, but nothing will happen if the power cord somehow loosens itself enough to come out. Nothing. At most, the console will turn off, but it is incredibly unlikely.

If the fear is that it might fall out, shouldn't it help to know that leaving it alone is the best thing to do? He should fear checking it too much instead, which seems already the case somewhat. Or maybe just super glue it lol.

Yes. I have severe OCD and I have destroyed thousands of dollars of electronics doing this.

Press the plug in, use a marker to draw a line on the plug end where it meets the console, and point a security camera straight at the connection with 24/7 recording.
Then you'll only have to constantly check the footage. It won't help your mental problem but it might save your console.

You can write a script which detects plug movement and attach a robot arm to it which will push it back in

Thank you for being supportive dude

How hard are we talking? Power Supplies in computers like the PS5 are pretty sturdy. And I'm assuming you mean you're pushing in the receptacle on the PS5 side and not your home's outlet.
