The "innocent bystanders" you speak of are almost always minority as well, given the demographic makeup of the neighborhoods where these crimes tend to happen. But hey, this is what the white "defund the police" liberals were protesting for, safe in their suburban homes.

And if that wasn't disgusting enough that they wanted those bystanders and victims to not have police around when they need them, they also don't want those would-be victims to have any means to protect themselves either. A majority of them are gang on gang. It's a problem that eliminates itself.

Even if that was the case (which I doubt), the collateral damage involving innocent bystanders wouldbe terrble enough.

A gun is merely an illusion of safety.

You will have to keep it inside a locked safe, unloaded with the safety on it... so by the time you need to use it, it will be far too late anyways.

Otherwise, you need to keep it out in the open, loaded with the safety off to actually use in case, in which most cases it will be misused. 80% of the time by someone else, like a child of the family taking it to school to shoot the bully or teacher giving them homework, or the criminal themselves grabbing it while you sleep, etc. Someone having a bad day and in that temporary moment considers the gun as the most easiest solution.

Then you wonder why you have so many mass shootings?

Having a gun in the house also increases your own chances of becoming the victim of a firearm-related homicide or suicide in the home as well.
