As for the question, that's something I've seen people do, which I find it can be potentially dangerous, as the nose can get clogged during the night, meaning you can potentially asphixiate in your sleep.

There are adhesive strips you can put on your nose that supposedly help with snoring, but taping one's mouth isn't a very good (or productive) idea. It can even cause someone to aspirate stomach acid if they experience reflux or regurgitation while asleep.

Nah, I use superglue instead. Tape gets wet and then peels off.
