I don't think I've ever been more ashamed of my country being under 30, without a college education and seeing so many American's whose profession should have them retaining better language and critical thinking skills, but don't.

It's not just that the way we communicate has changed, people are beginning to not be able to decipher simple sentences.

The writer writing the article, unscientifically attributed "level 3" to meaning 6th grade when there's nothing official making that link. There are three levels of literacy as described below. Yeah, it is sometimes frustrating that complex ideas have to be navigated through simplistic language because otherwise you're either misunderstood or people don't understand you at all. Very understandable problem that is.

What is worth acknowledging is that low literacy rates are often linked to broader social issues. We're then talking about poverty, lack of access to quality education and systemic inequalities that exist, which all contribute to that issue. So it's not just enough that education is improved by itself, there would also be an effort made to address the underlying factors.

This is what you get when education funding is primarily derived from local economic conditions. The poor stay poor and uneducated. I'm not saying it is by design, but it surely plays into the desires of the folks balking at the property tax on their third home.

Yes, the data is from 7 years ago, and that is the data Gallup used. Your point? Gallup's "study" was reading that exact piece of 7 year old data.

I think the 'conservatives' online are way different then offline as most IRL are pretty cool and have lots of insight and personal experiences in different levels yet online they act like the stereotypes the media makes them out to be which raises a ton of 🟥🟥🟥

Doesn't matter jack what he wants. The schools want their own thing and will just squander any money/attempts otherwise and they have and I think he realizes it too as he never mentioned it since he tried and failed.
We can't afford updated textbooks but somehow can afford a fancy new stadium with park lights then wonder why the old high school is falling apart and has serious structure issues forcing a new school.etc.
