Nuance is impossible online (like in this comment) because of pseudoanonymity and the sheer size of everything. Being an extremist IRL comes with consequences - ones which linger - but online all you have to do is switch accounts and it's like nothing ever happened. Someone will eventually come in and take the piss (and someone else will take it personally) or be intentionally inflammatory and derail everything

You can get nuance in smaller groups where everyone generally knows everyone else, but not here

I disagree with "this place is becoming too woke" but I do agree with stupid censorship. If you're actually upset your pfp depicting sexual themes was removed, that's a you problem. Steam is supposed to be 13+, so the content needs to follow those rules

If you got banned for words, I'd have a different opinion- I think there needs to be a re-implementation of freedom of speech, but there also needs to be an integration of consequences like having your actual self be affiliated with the things you say. That would dissuade a lot of the spineless, mindless ♥♥♥♥ posting on here. The issue with freedom of speech online is that it gets people to say the most unhinged things that they can possibly conjure, only because they know this is a consequence-less medium. This is why you don't see this type of extremism IRL like you do online where you're not personally held accountable for the things you say

A real solution would be:

advocating for more collaborative projects that emphasise equal dynamics of representation- not advocating for extremist segregation

Akin to leaving a wound for an infection to fester. Avoidance only leads to echo-chambers, which fosters more extremism because of those segregated chambers. People need to be taught critical thinking in school- but that won't happen, because then people would start using their newfound thinking process against their government

I don't see how he's trolling. Yeah, there can be movies and shows with Mary Sues, but not all of them. There should be an equal number of movies/TV shows for men and women.

It's still promoting segregation by grouping movies by gender. There always will be things that appeal in a more general sense to men or women respectively, but trying to only appeal to one gender at the time IS the problem. I can't believe I actually have to articulate these things. IE there should be movies made by people for people, not by women for women or by men for men. This teeter-tottering of extremism only leads to tribalism
