I think soccer is super boring.
Why’s it so popular everywhere outside the US?

It’s like hockey but without the fights. Nothing ever happens and people rarely score. It’s just running back and forth.

Where’s the entertainment?

The entertainment in football is that it´s about life and death. It´s a replacement to fight a war.

This is more true than a lot of people realise. On Christmas day 1914, some British soldiers and some German soldiers left their trenches to play football against each other. It's just a shame the next day they were trying to kill each other again....... Madness!

The good thing about sport is that one can share the same interests and talk about it, be enemies for the time of the match, and then even appreciate actions of the enemy after the match, when both teams have given their best. But nowadays i´m a bit unsure - i couldn´t even enjoy if a team wins because of a "clever" action aka diving in the right moment. A team should win, because they either outplay the opponent, or fight them down - or both - but not because of diving, which they overdo a bit imho. I don´t even watch much football because of it any more.

And i´m unsure when i´ve seen the last cards for diving - perhaps they aren´t a thing any more - while the referees whistle at the slightest touches. I mean yes - it´s a bit funny if someone tips another guy with a finger, and then the 1.9m guy full of muscles and tattoos breaks down, holds both hands over his face, starts screaming and rolls over the floor a couple of times. But they´re no actors or comedians - they should play football. Can´t be too hard...

Not watching football, but my house smells like football so is inevitable to not hear something about it, not complaining if it makes my parents happy, they also have likings as well 🤷‍♀️

Is kinda like how my friends will almost always hear something from Pokémon of me..

Football is nice game to play

Issue is that I need ppl to play and convincing ppl to play online games is alredy hard after the 2020 lockdown ,so imagine games in real life, that is even harder...

My early youth found me in Canada where I learned a love of hockey skill, not fighting.

Hockey, to me, was the right mix of speed and technical skill / precision. It is a very fast game though, takes practice to learn how to watch and see everything. Probably the fastest team sport.

That was a long long time ago though. Not sure how fighting is in the sport presently, not fan of that.

All this is true.

But if you played the game, then you begin to develop an appreciation for it.

It's a pretty simple sport; kick the ball, don't use your hands, get it into the other guys' net. And I think that's why it's so pupular.

American "Football" and Baseball have lots of special case rules, and are very tactically oriented. Soccer is essentially a play as you go kind of game, which is easy to understand.

nani

What I am saying is that there is always a football conversation or there is just something related to football on TV or phone or whatever...

I am surrounded by a football enviroment in the house 🤷‍♀️
compared to basketball, baseball ad football, soccer is like open world survival. you can do any strategies you want.

no ones gonna hold the ball and not let you have it to run off the clock. in soccer you can run over there and kick his head off.

im not writing off soccer. but i assume its suffering the same fate as NHL. theres no heros anymore. you might as well go to your local sports arena and watch a bunch of perfectly trained nobodies play.
