I think soccer is super boring.
Why’s it so popular everywhere outside the US?

It’s like hockey but without the fights. Nothing ever happens and people rarely score. It’s just running back and forth.

Where’s the entertainment?

Leave it to an american to complain "this doesn't have fights and bloodshed in it so I don't find it entertaining".

I mean yikes dude...

Look man, I'm german and I don't care for soccer either, my knowledge is limited to "kick the round thingy into the square thingy" but...

sheesh dude

that sure was some cringe wording you posted there, lol
It is the same as saying "Why do people play Fallout 3? It is boring" kind of thing
It is boring and the participants are overpaid. What I really love to watch are 11 men in plastic armour running into each other, but every 10 yards they stop and the stadium sets off fireworks and plays a Taylor Swift song.
LOL Say´s the baseball fan.
You could always look at take-a-dive-ball as a theatrical performance, watching overpaid actors take dives and over embellish fake injuries, maybe add a little circus music to make it extra hilarious.

Most sports are.

Yeah

I mean, I used to respect boxing until I found out how much control the mob still has over it. VEGAS BABY!
There's a reason it's the most popular sport in the world, and is known as the beautiful game. If you don't know why, then you'll never "get it". Which is fine, it's just not your thing.

And if things get boring, the fans can always amuse themselves.

The same could be said of baseball.

Even "football" or ice hockey is rather dull at times, except players can exchange a little more violence between each other.

Too much of a good thing also gets boring if players and teams are playing in an uninspired way; i.e. basketball.

To each their own.

Though to be honest I do agree some rule changes as to promote attack would benefit the game; i.e. no passing behind half court, time possession limits, etc.

These days, soccer, or football as it is known in every country outside US+Canada, seems to be a little more offensive, certainly a little better than the early 2010s when everyone seemed happy to settle with a 1 goal difference.

The entertainment in football is that it´s about life and death. It´s a replacement to fight a war.

Difference nowadays is that some players - and the rules - support something as "cleverness" which should not even called fair play.

Like today there was a French player - who touches the leg of another player with his leg, falls down, "in pain", holds the wrong leg while doing it, has one eye closed - because "pain" - and the other eye focuses the referee if he gets a freekick or not. But there´s also a Dutch player, who i though was cool for a moment, because headband, but he lets himself fall over backwards into another player in the hopes to get a penalty. These player should get the red card for doing it. But now it´s called "cleverness", and the defender is called "stupid". So You have more people acting like it. Usually the goal should be to stay on the feet if possible, and not to fall down if possible at the slightest opportunity. These people are unworthy to play the sport - but it seems the sport has changed, so this is what earns You millions. Just try to be clever aka be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so You have success. Like in real life i guess - which indeed makes it boring, as it´s nothing exceptional.

people only like to watch hockey for the fights?

It’s the only reason I’ve ever watched it. It certainly isn’t to watch them pass the puck 400 times.
And there's your answer.

Because it's one of the cheapest games to play. As in: you can play it by using almost no stuff.

I will not apologize for enjoying bloodshed. MMA, Boxing (mostly the amateur stuff), Bareknuckle Fighting, American Football when they're being aggressive, hockey fights, etc.

I love it, all of it.

I think other sports should incorporate more physical violence and aggression in them. Think about how popular Baseball could be if the batter didn't drop the bat and got to use it against armored out basemen. I'd watch tf out of that.

I think we should bring back gladiators.
Idk, I like scoring screamers from 40 yards, it's really fun.
Soccer is like a religion in my country but no one in my family likes it.
Bunch of overpaid hairdressers falling over when someone gently touches them.

Rugby is a mans sport.
