The counter-cultures today are all negative--4chan, Incel, Red Pill, MGTOW, etc. These movements and platforms are where the social rejects create their own culture, art (memes) and slang separate from the norm. It's sad because back in the day, the rejects would've been the cool kids creating new energetic forms of music, art, literature, etc. Now they just go to the most toxic forums and platform, photoshop memes and spam phrases that no one understands.

Kids have zero cultural awareness of anything that happened before 2020. You can't have a hippie resurgence if no one knows or cares about Allen Ginsburg, psychedelia, Ken Kesey, Sgt. Pepper, Haight-Ashbury or the peace symbol. Acid was also a large part of the hippie movement and there's no way that people are going to start using LSD again.

I think you underestimate the cultural awareness of the new generations. Will it be as a large of a movement I doubt it but there are similarities especially when we are going to enter a long cold war with nuclear deterrence again.

Understimating the corporations & govts abilities to "lure people" into a certain direction would be foolish. Back then there was more people-to-people communication, nowadays young people are on many mental health medication to barely push through life.

Can the situation improve? Sure hope is always the last thing to be lost, albeit the time frame for such move is going away the more tech goes forward, due it embedded itself as mandatory for modern life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
