Nvidia surpasses Microsoft to become the largest public company, in the world...
https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/18/markets/nvidia-largest-public-company/index.html

Pretty amazing. I'm not a techie, but do know, both MS with their Xbox, and Nvidia with Ge Force Now, on my Xbox, along with Steam, have given me the best times in gaming i've seen since PS2.

I thank all these parties lol.

I do like their software much more than AMD's stuff
Hmm - large in terms of money as the only way to compare something. Money is the most important thing in the world after all i guess. "Richest", or "most valued" are probably the wrong terms then - it can only be "largest" if it´s about headlines, so more people click on it. Good journalism. Money > People. I get it.
Nvidia cornered the market on AI chips. Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, etc are all filling their data centers with Nvidia chips.

They went from like 6 billion in revenues in Q4 2023, to 26 billion in the following quarters

It will ofc slow down once these large companies are finished buying. Hence why people have shifted to buying shares in Broadcom, which complements the datacenter business by providing other hardware.

The hardware sector is cyclical. Once the existing chips are outdated or worn down, they'll start buying new chips en masse again in 4-5 years.

Usually precipitates a drastic market recession.
NVIDIA is not just a graphics card company but an AI company now. Everyone building those huge LLMs like ChatGPT are using huge arrays of RTX series GPUs to handle the intense calculations.

the only way ai can legally justify itself is to either do away with copyright or allow people to copyright individual bodyparts.

in one version LLMs are left holding the bag for something that's now worthless, in the other none of us are going to live to see 80.
Yeah, that happens when the US government pumps Ukraine-levels of taxpayer money into a corporation. See also the Chips Act.

Nvidia is profitable enough to not need any government subsidies.

Most of the CHIPS act money went into reviving the dead horse Intel, and boosting other manufacturers of advanced semiconductors/electronics such as Micron, TSMC, and Samsung.

Because it turns out relying on Taiwan for 90% of the global output of advanced chips is a gigantic geopolitical vulnerability & chokepoint. The USA wants domestic manufacturing back.

NVidia got a huge chunk. It's how the Pelosis made another $5 million by "coincidentally" buying stock before the Act passes.
That's just Pelosi exploiting her privileged position to access insider information, because apparently US politicians are allowed to hold stocks. Totally no conflicts of interest here :^)

What's wrong with US made chips?
Nothing has changed since Microsoft and Apple both ripped off Xerox, and Research in Motion collapsed.

Yep, AI is a Bubble the government is creating. And its scared of China doing the same.

It doesn't make a lot of sense that its not a government bubble.

Makes you wonder about the prior video card bubble, now that blackrock is the biggest owner of bitcoin.
