Games to do a permadeath / hardcore.or self inflicted challenge playthroughs
Currently I've been really contemplating doing a permadeath attempt of a game as i currently have a fair amount of spare time up my sleeve.
I do have experience playing games in Hardcore like Path of Exile, Diablo and even classic wow.

I'm open to anyone suggesting games they have done stuff like this in before and enjoyed, even if the game doesnt have official modes for this but you just did them yourself.

Doesn’t Minecraft have a hardcore mode that if you die once then that save is deleted?

Would arcade games count? Beating them with a single quarter?

Sounds like permadeath to me, you lose = you start all the way from the bottom. I ain't insane to suggest a game you can play for months and lose everything due to a single mistake lmao

Yeah, and I play minecraft with gregtech new horizons and I have better questing hardcore hearts enabled in the pack. Which means you get 3 lives until world erase.

Theres other packs with hardcore hearts too. Where quests can give you extra lives, but gregtech is pretty stingy with them. Given it has infernal versions of mobs that can 1-2 shot you.

It’s a very unforgiving game. 1 small mistake can cost you your life. That’s why I bunkered up in a small house living off of rabbits, birds, varies fruits, and potatoes.

Grim Dawn has a hardcore mode, if you want another ARPG.

Lots of strategy games have Ironman modes. (One save slot, no loading.) I often will play them that way even if it's not an official feature of the game.

Wizardry online was the best permadeath rpg, sadly it was shut down do to lack of Sony network making profits to keep it running, ask Sony to bring it back

Noita has a ton of challenge playthroughs, the game is difficult to begin with, especially if you're going for an endgame goal, and people add hitless or pacifist runs on top of that. The runs in Noita are incredibly demanding. Also as a roguelite it's permadeath by default. Fantastic game if you like roguelites and freedom for the player to use ingenuity.

You could just play until you die I've done that many times in many video games.

It really changes the dynamic in games like Skyrim when you only play until your first death.

I 100% agree with this, was hoping for people to shed some light on maybe some games they had done this on theirselves, skyrim sounds great though, but i do have multiple 100's of hours on there

Hmm looking at your profile you have played Enderal for 34 minutes (if that is correct) Maybe that instead of Skyrim if you indeed have no experience with it? Unless you did not like the total conversion of course. It is a lot harder game that is for sure.
a good suggestion, I currently dont update my skyrim due to mods and not wanting to break them so im unsure if i can play it again (i havent played it since its release)

Dont know how many ppls left in it, but it was pretty funny and challenging.

i dont know, i could recommend some games but its a bad idea, they're one hit kill games? its not suitable.
