I would talk about it if I considered it worth the effort debating with others in ot more often. I can provide examples.

Firstly, here's the gay/trans panic defense, which let's a defendant effectively victim blame and is a valid, legal defense in most of the US. Versions exist outside of the US as well but they may go by different names.

Trans people are accused of being pedophiles. Gay people used to suffer these accusations as well.

Here's a specific example, someone being murdered because her killer believed she was trans. Which is an example of how hate towards LGBT people can affect others outside of targeted groups.
