Ewwww ... why do people like Walmart?
I haven't been to Walmart in over two years, as I never liked the place. My local Walmart had one item in stock that I needed right away. Went to the store at 6am (just as they opened).

To my dismay, the item I needed was locked up. I asked the only employee in the area to open the locked cabinet. He said he didn't have the key. Then I told him to find someone who did have the key. He started with all the excuses like he didn't know where they key was. I told him to find someone with the key and stop making excuses. After some arguing, he finally found a person who had the key to the locked cabinet. It's not like I was asking them to fly a space shuttle.

Rude employees. Dirty floors. Questionable customers. Many items locked up (depending on your area). Why would anyone enjoy shopping at such a horrid place?

Each to their own but Costco pays for itself in the long run. I get frozen food in bulk, a huuuuuuige sack of cereal (you know, the ones that are as big as a dog food sack), snacks, meats, and veggies.

basically any discount retail store is going to have comparable goods for cheaper in slightly less nice packaging.

Oh yeah… I eat a bunch of free samples.

Don’t tell anyone this but I sneak in more than 1 sample. Heuhehehe.

It's cheap, sells everything, and if there was competition for essential groceries before they came to an area it will often drive other businesses under and be the only remaining option.

The Walmarts in Canada are different. You can eat maple walnut ice cream off the toilet seats in the Walmarts here.

Sorry you went through that, Every Walmart I've been to across the nation has been clean and well organized. Former President Obama steered me toward it, and they had a pretty good selection of items.

I avoid Walmart for a wide range of moral and economic reasons.

Target is frequently disappointing with either not having what I'm looking for in stock, or the website saying they do, but then they don't when I drive over there.

I stick to Costco. To all accounts, they're one of the most benevolent employers in the country, and the membership pays for itself. As long as you're careful whenever getting anything perishable. I just had to make a pressure cooker pot of soup with, among other things, a couple pounds of almost-brown, wilting salad mix.

You may not realize, many stores do now lock up valuable/desirable items to prevent theft. Theft is a major problem and a loss to a business. Walmart isn't the only store that does it.

While I personally wouldn't do that, The Walmart I frequently buy chicken and cat food at is very clean and employees are mostly sweet. You get one or two who are just having a bad day and do their best not to jump down your throat.
