There was an outcry from SJW's around that time because of two anime. "Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro" and "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out" were both slice of life anime with romance and mild fan service that became popular because each of these series had a popular anime girl romantically interested in the protagonist.

Both had a lot of humor, and both were flirty. Neither of them had outright pr0n. Both are kind of wholesome.

But the SJW's found reasons to villainize each series because of reasons. I guess they just can't stand seeing cute girls flirt with a guy they like.

well to me there is no such thing as anime after about 2001-ish.. the time they stopped using 'cels' to mainly produce it. The 'art' was gone. anime was dead.

that being said.. there are always poor productions, bad artists, low budgets so you kind of expect a low budget experience from those...

for me Ill go with biggest let-downs.

NGE and Lain were absolute trash tier. I was expecting so much from them and I did back then buy into the hype and buy them both. AND. was let down so hard i broke bones.

both of them for being 'top tier' anime of the time were hot garbage and IMO fall victim to nothing buy pure hype. will never watch either of them ever again. period.

The worst anime I ever watch that I can remember is toradora. Not that it's bad, but I tend to stop watching shows I don't like in the first two episode, so I can't recall the actual bad ones.

I haven't watched many, including the popular ones, so all I can come up with is Komi Can't Communicate.

A socially awkward person and school?
Okay, that could be interesting.. Sounds like a part of my life.
.. But the animation, being this much anxious of socializing that you can't even mutter a single word, let alone half of the word?

I do get where the main character is coming from, but this is just too much.
I have somehow forced myself to get through first two episodes, and that was it.
Unfortunately, I have kind of expected that to happen, given my dislike towards the art style and animations.
The script, at least in the beginning, has felt like those cheap articles full of misinformations, because there's no way people struggle this much with socialization, as that was completely unacceptable..

Out of what I've watched so far, the first thing that comes to mind is Fairy Tail. It's way to over-reliant on fan service for starters, "power of friendship" got really stale early on due to how they utilized it, many of the guild members felt forgettable despite their screentime, and this managed to be the only anime where the high pitched JP voices actually gave me headaches.

I ultimately dropped it after what I think was the guild tournament arc (I just remember it ended with Ultear becoming really old), so it may have gotten better after that, but I just couldn't continue it.

The manga was much better.(although the English version from Dark Horse was apparently 'edited' and didn't make it to the end.)

edit: it's meant to be a deconstruction of the "kids with cute monster buddies" Pokemon/Digimon/etc thing. So the kids are all broken, the cute monster buddies are monsters, and horrible things happen to everyone. Wheeee!

been a long time since i watched it but i think the anime was only about gore and killing and revenge. does the manga have anything else or is it just more gore until the end?
