First, it's because i dont trust adds and trailers and game journos. Before buying a game, i wanna see if it's gonna be my taste. Then, you'll may wanna see reactions to a game section (or a whole game even) that you yourself particurly liked - people discovering gems like Deus Ex or Vampire bloodlines, or see peeps marvels at immersive sim Arx Fatalis even will all the bad quirks of the game. Or see how others deals with a difficult section of a game, like "how the hell people can pass the mission 3 of the wisigoths in Age of Empires 2 ?". The whole speedrunning community is about rewatching someone else's perf'.
But yeah, some twitch and others have "added content" in the form of their quirkiness and personnality. Some like CJUGames is just some normal guy doing horror games, and is mostly normal, but take a Many A True Nerd. His voice is stupid and he's a master at making harebrained schemes that relies on his miscomprehension of a situation because he is just at that level of NOT aware; and as he might be on Bethesda PR section payroll, he genuinely made Fallout 3 into somehow immersive short stories that make the huge empty world filled with trash and rubble that i played into something akin to a GAME with EXCITMENT - thing i didnt felt during my own playthrought of it.
You may not like the guy, but i'll listen to his harebrained things as background noise without any problem over any radio, any day :p
