I completely agree.
Also, trudeau is done in a year and a half. We will have a new conservstive leader taking over and hopefully he will better cooperste with trump and invest more into our own military so trump feels less like a babysitter snd more like an ally.
Military officials and experts were very clear that with modern weapons systems conscription is futile and really just a drag on the professional military. There is also talk about activating about a million or so reserve personnel - which we really can't pay nor equip anyway.
In reality, they don't care about conscription nor reservists, but want to exploit cheap and back-breaking labour from young people through civil service and dispatching reservists for infrastructure works - in the case of conscripts at the cost of civil rights. These people used to be a cheap sources of labour for the entire medical and caretaking industry, and anyone could apply to get one as long as their business fell in some arbitrary category of serving the common good or some stuff like that.
Talk like this typically comes from the same politicians that basically want to abolish workers rights to boost the economy. Nothing more than corpo-gov slave drivers.
But nobody is being drafted to die in this war. (Other than Ukrainians and Russians).
Well, again, you don't bother anyone. He should neglect the military, and help you. As i said, you're protected.
There is no President that will allow a foreign adversary on our border. That's not gonna happen.
And so i personally like Trudeau, and Canadians, and are our closest friends. That being said, you do not need NATO or militaries. Spend your money wisely. We've bankrupted ourselves on these stupid wars and tax cuts, and have nothing to show for it.
No guarantee things will remain as they are for the time being.
That applies to the situation without conscription as well. The only way conscripts would be involved in this war would be, if Russia directly attacks and invades the country that has those conscripts. And then you might die to Russian bombs, regardless if you are a civilian or conscript.
I don't blame Trump for pointing out that America does the heavy lifting in that Alliance. But I am blaming him from not committing to it. Even from an American point of view, NATO is a great deal for America.
