I'm a transgender girl, ask me anything
This is either going to be a good discussion, or a dumpster fire

Yeah, I'm a trans girl. That's why I've been posting about politics a lot because I was wondering if they were going to take my rights away. I think a lot of people who dislike trans people have never actually talked to a trans person, so let's change that. If you ever had a question about what it's like to be trans, or how trans people find out that they're trans, then feel free to ask.

Don't worry, I won't get offended. That's one of the things I dislike about the LGBT community. They get too offended over things as simple as a question by a curious person that was worded poorly in a way that offends them. It's so bad that I feel embarrassed to associate myself with the LGBTQ community.

If you personally have a problem with trans people, so be it. My only request is that you don't start a huge fight in the replies, because that could lead to you being banned.

Also, if any moderators are reading this, please do NOT ban anyone in the replies here. I know this is a sensitive topic that people have strong opinions on, but I WANT to hear these opinions. Also, please don't lock this for "starting a fight" or whatever, because I want to hear everyone's opinions. I'm sorry if this goes against the Steam rules, and feel free to delete the post if the worst case scenario happens and a straight up war happens in the comments. But still, don't ban anyone please.

Who first told you that you should have surgery or take hormones instead of just accepting the body you are in and being gay?

Myself, actually. I knew trans people existed early on, but I also was isolated from others when I was a kid due to strict parents. It's almost entirely my choice, since I only started interacting with other trans people when I made it to high school

So... XY to XX or XX to XY chromosomes. I don't understand how this conversion works at all. Moreover, all are equal before the law.

I noticed that. Actually, femboys, of all people, have sort of redefined fashion. Now, when I see a girl wearing a mini skirt, crop top, and thigh highs, I assume she is actually a guy
Same

So you're saying that girls don't even know how to be girls, that men are better at being girls than girls are? #DamnBurn
Yes, though it’s probably a question of effort.

Let's just use myself as an example. First I took some stuff that that lowered the testosterone levels in my body, then I gradually introduced estrogen (female hormones) into my body. That's about as far as I've gotten. I can't detail the changes that have happened since Steam has a filter for NSFW content so I'll just say that my male parts are working less and less, and I am starting to have more feminine characteristics, especially around the chest area and my voice is getting higher

I thought I may not have been clear enough. You were told surgery and hormones were an option. Those weren't things you came up with on your own. Who gave you the idea of surgery or hormones so you could make the decision?

Sounds like social media since your parents didn't.

You can't change your chromosomes. They do surgery to change genitals and/or add/remove breast and give hormones. Chromosomes are your DNA they don't change that. They change body parts and natural chemical levels in body.

Hey girly, what really made you realize that you are trans?

Are you planning on competing in men's sports?
No. The only sport I like is badminton, but everyone knows that is a dead sport
I have not seen any women that are trying to become men that plan on competing with men in the sports world, it's always men wanting to compete with women.

Do you think that some Trans people may be gay men that are not receiving all of the attention that they require so they become Trans in hope of finding the extra attention that they think is missing?

I don't remember where I heard that it was an option, exactly. If you are the kind of person who thinks social media is indoctrinating kids into being trans or something, then I'll just say that I always had a passing interest in being more girly. The earliest memories I have of this feeling was wanting to be a princess for Halloween when I was about six years old. My parents shot that idea down because they were unfamiliar with the concept of trans people back then. Thankfully, they have warmed up to that concept and have allowed me to start my transition

This will seem kind of stupid, but one of my friends once bought me one of those maid outfits as a gag gift. From there, I realized that I like feminine clothing and kinda poked at that feeling for a few months until I did some actual research into trans women. The rest is kinda self explanatory

Well, femboys are a thing, and I'd say about 80% of trans girls people I know personally are attracted to guys, so your theory is probably correct for some people

Which rights are you worried about? And who are "they"

What are your thoughts on "gender dysphoria"? Do you believe it is a real thing, and that it should be classified as a mental illness?

If you could be medically treated somehow to make yourself feel okay with being a man in a male body instead of wanting to transition, would you be interested in that treatment?

Do you think changing one's body through things like sexual reassignment surgery are effective at positively changing the way one feels in their mind about themselves?

Well, there are some states (unsuccessfully) drafting bills allowing workplaces to discriminate during the hiring process if a potential employee introduces themselves as a gender that doesn't match the one on their ID. Also, there are plenty of states with laws that make it difficult or nearly impossible for trans people to get the healthcare they need. I'm not too well-versed in state-specific policies on transgender people
