Looking for movie / series recommendations
As the title says, i am looking for movie / series recommendations. The "you watched this, you may also like this" features of the several streaming sites are just...bad, so i hope someone can help me here.
I am looking for movies / series that dont have to be "look at how gritty and miserable we all are" all the time, so f.e. The Walking Dead would be a big NO from me. I am not opposed to some "serious stuff", but i like it if there can be funny / silly moments / episodes inbetween, think like f.e. Supernatural. On the scale between "has to be deep with heavy topics" and "easily digestible", i would lean more towards the latter, tho i am not opposed to some deeper story lines. In general i am just looking for some interesting stuff with at least some "feel good" moments that also lets you turn of your brain from time to time. It also doesnt matter if the show / movie is usually perceived as "for kiddys", i dont see anything wrong with grown people having a good time while watching f.e. Spongebob.

Examples of some movies / series that i have watched and liked:
- Supernatural.
- Smallville.
- Lucifer.
- Arcane.
- Cyberpunk.
- Legend of Vox Machina.
- Invincible.
- Pretty much every Studio Ghibli movie.
- She Ra.
- The Boys + GenV.
- Hazbin Hotel.
- Venom 1 + 2.
- Spiderverse 1 + 2.
- Sing 1 + 2.
- Bad Guys.
- Every Minion / Despicable Me movie.
- Every Hotel Transylvania movie.
- Trolls 1 + 2.

I think you kinda get the picture.

Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, Season 1, Season 2, Solid State Society and 2045

Or the Arise continuity.

I'm assuming you are familiar with the two original movies.

Chuck.

Eureka.

Stargate: SG-1

Stargate: Atlantis

Stargate: Universe

Babylon 5

I think you'd love Chuck and Eureka if you binge watched them. And the SG series are the best of all time, right up there with Babylon 5. Takes a bit to get used to the initial 4:3 aspect ratio for the first few seasons, if you're a youngun. But the stories are all amazing. :amadeus_happy:

Babylon 5 is rare and amazing because it was never meant -- like 99% of todays fare -- to run forever and ever without end, and just be milked forever. It was written beforehand with a definite beginning, middle, and end. Which is how everything used to be written. The series is "well-crafted".

Even individual episodes used to be self-contained stories with endings. Now? There is no end, every episode has a cliffhanger and more questions. Even every season has a story arc, another cliffhanger and more questions, demanding you watch more.

Eureka has a story arc style, but each season is a single story arc with an ending.

Chuck is similar.

Two of my favorites at the time, LOST and Breaking Bad? They were not written with an end in mind. They were only written to keep you watching. To keep going until cancellation, and then the writers would fudge together an ending, which could never be as good as a planned ending.

The Walking Dead follows this new method of "storytelling". It's not a story if there's no end.

It's just General Hospital or Days of Our Lives but with zombies. Walkers, I mean. :amadeus_happy:

I love Danica McKellar. If they ever do a show of The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage, I hope she plays Ada Lovelace.

Opposite Benedict Cumberbatch as Charles Babbage.

I tried to get into Farscape. I bounced right off it. Maybe the puppetry was too cheesy for my liking. I don't know.

Same with Dr. Who. Seems like I would like both. They both hit me weird.

The Omen series.

I'll give you a suggestion for a classic series that's very unique.
Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
It's a show from the 70's that has a journalist for a small paper who chases after supernatural cases.
He really believes in the subjects of his stories because...they're real.
It does have an element of comedy to it.
Fun.

If you can wait 15 months or more The Mandalorian on Disney a good show, but takes to long to film between seasons

The Wheel of Time on amazon is the same way, over 15 months or more sense a new episode or season

I'm sorry, but 8 episodes is not a season. It is a third of a season.

So far, for instance, we've had one season's worth of The Boys.

It is a disappointing development, and I am unsure if we will ever see 20+ episodes seasons again, in our lifetimes.
Look no further than ... THE IMAGINARIUM of DOCTOR PARNASSUS .. further innuendo:
