It's like the vampire problem. You have to get turned when you still look good or you're just an immortal sack of potatoes.
Because that moment of timelessness, is something you will probably use many times.
One can create a world within themselves, planets, npcs, houses, lakes, forests, whatever. Where the only thing that can interrupt it, is death or need to eat or sleep.
With immortality, one could get lost in this world and remain forever. Forgetting the world outside the body. Mayhaps you've already done this, gone into your imagination, forgotten who you are and how to feel anything outside this place. Living under the rules you originally created for this place. All of this could be one big imagination.
And if thats the case, immortality is not living forever, but rather sleeping forever, in this place that may not be real. A place where one day everything sprang from nothing, like when a person closes their eyes and everything can burst forth from the imagination.
Perhaps you are Alice, and me the Cheshire cat. That knows the truth of everything, but puts it as riddles when I see fit. Of course not, for you only see me here, not every where. If I was so important as the Cheshire cat, I could show up every where.
But immortality you want? How can you be so sure that its not eternal slumber that you are asking for?
I'd only want to live forever under certain circumstances
(possibly at one point you'll eventually become so bored or tired of dealing with the crap in life or life itself and would just want to end the struggle). Your mind will only be able to tolerate so much for so long.
Yea, living only double digits sucks!
But there are also good moral reasons why we're all born to age and die...
Earth would eventually become so overrun/crowded and polluted it would be unbearable to live in. Even if we could inhabit other hospitable planets, but it's extremely unlikely we'll find any compatible one soon, and reaching such a planet is many light years away, the odds are greatly against us (your odds are better in winning the Billion Jackpot Lottery!)
It would require finding several other worlds. Still, NOT gonna happen.
You're immortal, but your body will continue to age and decay as normal.
You just won't die from it, is all. Your vital organs won't fail, but the rest of your body will continue to break down by age accordingly.
Oh teach us the great wise one...!
What are the best memories you have? The memories you experience every day or the memories that only happened once?
You can create any memory you want inside the imagination of your own head. And a world inside there where you can live in forever. Limited only by your brains ability.
