The past month, with their constant updates, it has been randomized for me. Did they finally roll it out for everyone?
Edit: Nope. Mine are still the old way both logged in and not while using a private browser.
What browser you use?
I hope they don't roll it out for everyone.. and revert it back to old layout instead. It is not appealing for the eyes to have lots of images right below the video and the comment to the right , making it even harder to read comments, I can't imagine what they are thinking, it's even worse then when the Steam got a major update and everyone hated it.
Yes, just randomized. Multiple browsers over the past month. No real way to know when it happens. But when it does happen, I just clear my cache and history and try again and it goes back to normal.
I like the video list on the right as well. I don't want it below the video I am watching. I mostly never look there unless I want to posts a comment myself. The video recommendations are easier for me to see off to the side.
Video recommendation list below the video that is playing. Comments on the right hand side, similar to the live chat in streams.
It's basically just switched from what it normally is.
On the right? Ehh? How does that fit on a phone screen?
Mobile viewing (portrait mode) has its own layout that may not be the same as this. But in landscape mode, it should be the same as a normal browser view.
It doesn't happen often which is why I think it is in a very small testing phase.

Honestly, I like it 👍
I personally don't care about YT comments but I do care about what videos I may want to watch next. Switching the layout forces me to navigate away from the video to see the recommended ones, which defeats the purpose of YT video surfing.
also for those curious how it looks.. a quick google search on reddit new youtube ui will give you images how it looks
But the videos are literaly below the video
They are not 5 km away (even though they can be if you keep scrolling down, which that has not changed...)
Also that is just the computer, is not like you or most ppl even use YouTube on the computer (unless listening music...)
i prefer to watch youtube on the computer then the phone because the screen is bigger.. its hard to see some details if your looking at a UFO / ghost documentary on the phone, also the sound is alot better on the computer (headphones) then phone speaker. for youtube shorts sure i use the phone..
Using Firefox prevents this happening. So far, it looks like this only happens to Chromium based browsers.
I also hate captions and ambient mode on by default.
