Why are the divorce rates so high these days?

The IFS did a study and found that a higher number of sexual partners previous to marriage correlates with a higher divorce rate.

Women with 10 or more partners were the most likely to divorce, but this only became true in recent years;
Women with 3-9 partners were less likely to divorce than women with 2 partners; and,
Women with 0-1 partners were the least likely to divorce.

One strong reason is that people treat marriage the same way they treated dating someone.
Others are getting married for the wrong reasons, forsake the meaning of the vows, marry before really knowing their partner, a developing trend in females to marry just to secure offspring and a fact that women are no longer dependant on men for a life and happiness.

Being able to understand that something can happen that can end in a divorce is a healthier mindset than saying divorce is never an option.

The latter is how people get trapped in unhealthy marriages.

basically: people always have been turds but now they are all mega turds and even though they suffer very much without a herd / group / living alone

okay okay i will tell you the 100% real and unfiltered reason for this , its because of social media, internet and being more connected in general, people compare each other and their couples more than ever, they lust, they weight their options, they wonder if they could get her, if they could get him.

They look at others peoples lifestyles and think they deserve better, in the couple we all experience boredom at some point, and these generations of people cannot handle it. If anything negative impacts the couple they are out because it doesnt fit the mould they have seen online.


ESpecially when they grow older, when the couple experiences a low or unforgivable behavior takes places and women most specifcally might have a sentiment of "damn i wasted my best years with this bozo right here when i rejected all these other options left and right just so i can stay loyal to him, damn"

My answer: 1. Because nowadays, divorce is easy. As easy as ordering a meal at the drive-thru. and 2. Because for one side, divorce can be financially lucrative -- both from alimony and government aid.

I'm no economist, but I've always heard that if you subsidize something, you get more of it. This adage seems to hold true in everything. Pay people to do something, people will do more of it.
