I think it is strange to generalize these things. You simplify the situation to just "a man and a woman". But in reality you are persons, are you not? And all persons are different. You should communicate and see what fits. Not go by these stereotypes.

Yes, dating etiquette and rules aren't as rigid in Europe and it's possible to discuss etiquette with your partner on equal grounds. I think it varies on which European country you go to, Spain is quite progressive.

Delivering maxims which reinforce rigid stereotypes on gender, gentlemanliness, and masculinity will have people rolling their eyes at you even if they are just friends and there is no romantic motivation. This is not an "expert" take. It should be obvious.

I mean this with the best of intentions. Few of us live in third world countries. Divorce rates and violence towards women in different countries happen for a complex array of reasons. It is misguided to link those things solely to gender stereotypes.
