What Do You Think About LARPing?
according to Google "Larping" consists of acting as if you're in pseudo-historical worlds inspired by fantasy literature and games such as Dungeons and Dragons and combines elements of improvisational acting, pervasive gaming, cosplay, and role-playing games.

have you or would you ever participate in live action role-playing?

It isn't something I'd do personally but I have no problem with those that do it.

I did play D+D when I was a kid along with a number of the other P+P games that were out in the late 70's/early 80's. Chaosium's Elric game, Dragonquest (before Square got to the name) ... even played Star Trek and James Bond P+P games.

Look up the card/board game Nuclear Escalation. There's a blast from the past. I even played a super hero P+P game.
Fun Fact: Historical reenactment is LARPing. . . .
I'm not a huge fan of it simply because I prefer more... you know, traditional tabletop stuff and more traditional forms of improv to go with it.

I can do a fabulous array of voices, for example, but I am absolutely not a good physical actor of any kind and I feel for good LARP you kind of need to be able to pull that off. Whatever I wear or whoever I try and act I will always just look like the guy you just hired to fix your computer. And then write a poem about it.

So, you know, I will always avoid it. Mad props though to those that do it and those who enjoy it. Hobbies are cool and the more you have and the more different they are the cooler you tend to be as a person.

Stay cool, folks.

but just living your life isn't because we aren't actually here by choice.

same as being forced into RP being kind of ... just abuse.

making associations with people more or less tying yourself to that abuse, or at least it is under the 'life as RP' narrative schema anyway. which makes it an inherently abusive schema, prone to all kinds of abuse.

it's a simple neurological fact that both the use of the body is unnecessary as a component, as the brain can replicate the same traumas on a computer anyway, and that it also can create problems as any trauma that results becomes physically encoded as well as emotionally.

for example, swinging a foam sword triggers my ptsd specifically because I can't actually defend myself with it, save in absurd and brutalistic ways that dominate my thought-patterns when I hold it. unlike a real sword, or an imaginary sword.

like I have personal greivances with the concept, but I don't think it's wrong to do. just fraught with peril.

I was rather annoyed by that comedic subplot in the Marvel Hawkeye series.

Hema and SCA people get enough crap as it is.

I mean, the SCA is only the second largest paramilitary organization in the US, after the Scouts. Not weirdos.

Larping is totally okay if you do it with your friends when you want to have some fun. It only gets weird when you do it all the time.
