Why is PC gaming so misogynistic?
I was watching a video about PC gaming, and how sexist attitudes are common. Why is this so common in PC gaming?

It seems like a lot of women feel they have to mute constantly because the atmosphere is so underlying sexist.

Because PC gaming culture has traditionally had elements of toxic masculinity linked to it. Only recently it has become more inclusive and diverse. Although women are still far too often being harassed and mistreated by men. Especially when there are screens and some anonymity.

There is a lot of work to be done to make the space safe for everyone.

Gamers are also rude to children, and disabled people, and literally everybody. It's nothing personal.

People have been rude to me for literally no reason before. That's O.K. really. There's no need to lose marbles over it.

Just be polite and respectful to people, not superficial, and you're probably good.

Here's a safe space - play offline.

Streamers have the ability to ban people they don't like in their streams. Use that ability and stop complaining.

It not, everyone gets harassed online at some point. It what block and ignore buttons are for

Apart from ESO where there are mudballs and lazy mods so then have to change your crafting spot

Never had a problem with female users in games when teaming up, Then again i'm there to play the game and so were they, so everyone got what they wanted. a simple bit of respect throughout and that's all that's needed to get through an operation/dungeon.

All of gaming can be misogynistic, not just PC gaming

Gaming used to be a male-dominated hobby but now things are becoming woke.

Online gaming is tame and polite compared to what it used to be. Use the mute function or learn to clap back.

The older I get, the less I believe the idea that certain cultures are more or less inherently toxic. Some are just more able or willing to articulate their offensive opinions. And being on the internet helps encourage it.

If you gave boring middle-aged teacher anonymity and let them vent their grievances 24 hours a day, I bet they would talk some trash too.

How does citing a biased wiki contribute to this thread?

The PvP games has always been an hostile environment in general, bonus points if it's a "competitive" game. OP what you can do is block and move on, also play only with friends in a squad. Otherwise fight fire with fire, an eye for an eye sort of deal.
