I mean if we're talking about ideals...
current workweek :
9 months a year :
10 hours of commuting a week.
42 hours a week at the workplace
8 hours a week working at home
monday - friday
7.30 leaving home
8.30-17.45hr at the workplace (minus 1 hour of unpaid breaks)
19hr back home
19-20.30 working at home
saturday & sunday always off.
1 months a year :
10 hours of commuting a week
40 hours a week at the workplace
monday-friday
9.00 leaving home
10-17.30 at the workplace
18.30 back home
saturday & sunday always off.
2 months a year :
fullly paid leave
***I get 20 offdays a year but am restricted in when I can take them (usually only the the 3 months the students also have holidays
***my contractual hours are only 40.. so me working 50 for most of the year.. thats enough for nearly 40 extra offdays, the board usually opts to give me halve in pay, halve in extra free time, so thats anpother 20 days off, giving me 2 months a month off instead of the normal 1.
Now if I had my Ideal workweek :
12 months a year :
6 hours of commuting a week. (halve the commuting time)
51 hours a week at the workplace (more paid hours)
0 hours a week working at home (no taking work home)
monday - saturday (1 extra workday, sunday only off is fine)
10hr leaving home
10.30-19.30 at the workplace| (minus ONLY 30 minutes of unpaid breaks)
20hr back home
NO working at home
-36 paid and no longer restricted offdays a year (a reduction from the 42 I get now)
changes made :
-I would want to work 6/7 days a week instead of just 5/7 days a week, I want sundays of cause my faith other than that I want to work.
-I want to start and end my workday 1.5 hour later
-I want to live closer to the workplayce so my commute is just 2x30 minutes a day instead of the 2x60 minutes a day it takes me now
-I find my current 9 weeks paid leave a year too much, I prefer to have just 6 paid weeks off, and recieve 3 weeks extra pay.
-I want the restrictions on WHEN I take my days off lifted, I want full freedom to take my days off, so I am not restricted to go on holiday in the expensive season.
-I hate to waste 1 hour a day on unpaid breaks, I want to halve that to 30 minutes a day.
-It also gives me a nice payraise of 15% annually... as I am now on average paid for 44 hours a week year round (my contracual 40 hours + 4 hours of paid overtime), while this new sceme would make my contractual hours 51 hours, and no overtime.
1.) Wake up and prepare self for the day
2.) 0 hours in transit - working from home
3.) Lay down and relax
4.) Wait for the urge to be productive to rise to the point of restlessness
5.) Become very productive for 2-3 hours
6.) Lay down and relax
7.) Prepare for the night
8.) Sleep
9.) Repeat.
*house prices are INSANE (and parking fees in the city are also insane so better go public transport or bike) leading to the 2x1 hour commutes
*a house closer to work, would save an hour a day that is essentially wasted now.
**another hour a day is wasted on unpaid breaks, while I do want a break, 30 minutes is fine for me.. and also what the law demands.. I rather have that other 30 minutes a day paid
**I hate that our school closes at 18am.. I rather it stays open till 20am.. so I can complete my work at school and not have to work AFTER my commute at home too.
**I am not that much a morning person.. so I prefer to just shift the workday 1.5 hours so start and end 1.5 hours later. (hate 9-17.. prefer 11-19;)
**I find me overworked 9 months a year.. but than with way more free time the other 3 months than I need.. I like it spread out better, by having no more schoolbreaks.. and 6 workdays instead of 5.
**I like to have more of my overtime actually PAID instead of getting more days off I not need.
Yes.
working from home.. not for me.. I hate it... I like my commute..
it gives structure to my day, forces me to keep my grooming, dayly rythm and cleaning good..
without that structure.. my house and apearance will detoriate worse than that of a college dorm..
I also quite enjoy the talks I have in my commute as well as the ritual of grabbing a snack and drink during that trip
I not need 1 whole HOUR of commute..
but some commuting + working in another place than home is nice.
also electricity and heating is expensive.. my utility bill is muich lower when I work in the office..
also at work there is airconditionion at home not... so in summer especially I prefer being at work.
Four ten hour days, Monday through Thursday. 5AM to 3:30PM. Two paid 15 minute breaks and an unpaid 30 minute lunch. Three day weekends.
My current schedule:
2:30PM to 1:30AM (sometimes 2AM) Monday through Thursday. 1PM to 9:30PM on Fridays.
Swing shift sucks.
