why do non-americans talk so weird?

I finally had a chance to travel and i visited the british islands but everyone i tried talking to spoke to me in this ridiculous sounding gibberish and i could barely make out what they were trying to say, and at first i thought everyone just wasnt taught to speak properly but after two days there i finally met one person who overly enunciated his words and explained to me that everyone i had encountered up to that point could likely speak the same way but was choosing not to. Was everyone just making fun of me? Why do they choose to speak gibberish??

I was having a little joke in the previous post, if you listen to what that pronunciation youtube channel did with "Donald Trump". It's a word they modified just slightly.

We Americans make fun of the way each other talk. I used to josh with my Bostonian roommate all the time back in college. "Say 'park the car in Harvard yard. Come on, say it!'"
