I need detective games that challenges my thinking.
I used to play a lot of competitive games that tested my "physical" or mechanical skills but not enough games that test my intelligence or critical thinking. So I want a detective game that does just that if anyone knows.

There's an old game that requires some booklets to play, but I think it's still online somewhere.

"Murder by the Dozens".

Life is Strange has some minor "detective" moments (first game). Overall i think it is great and not overrated.

Not everyday I hear that. The art-style is great though, I'll give it that.

It's not exactly a detective game ~ but it's close enough, and it's a classic.

Why tf would you suggest something like this? Lots of games have "minor detective moments". That's not what OP asked for though, is it.

Plotwise i would say the first LiS game is pretty top notch. Also regarding graphics and gameplay too imo. Far too bashed game.

Well i think it fits alright if not good, imo.

L.A. Noire
from Rockstar games.
It's a one and done project from a group called Team Bondi.
You play as a detective in 1940's Los Angeles.
You solve cases by inspecting the crime scene, and questioning suspects.
A long complex game with a huge map to drive around.

Strange Horticulture.

Orwell and Orwell: Ignorance is Strength.

Flowers series of VNs, they have deductive mysteries throughout and if you get it wrong you will get the abrupt bad end. Kinda hard without guide though.

Kara No Shojo, seriously dark and macabre detective story, has some porn so if you are squeamish about such things then probably not a good option.

Suzerain and The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante, more of a life career games instead of deduction but require some thinking.

Deck building games are good to challenge the thinking, like Slay the Spire, Monster Train, Backpack Battles.

I don't understand how can you say that. You even called it "SOME MINOR detective moments" yourself, which clearly shows that it does not fit at all.
