Of course this only applies if all participants would be interested in having a reasonable conversation.
But it´s not necessary to dispute anything someone says, nor is it necessary to agree with it.
Like the problem with Your statement is that it´s about expecting something of others (having a reasonable conversation), when one could easily change the own approach. As You can´t completely affect how others perceive anything You say, but You can affect Your own actions, and how You perceive something in a conversation. And if someone doesn´t understand it, or doesn´t want to understand it, it´s not a problem of the others that You dislike that they don´t understand it. That is when talking is useful - to discuss certain things, if all participants would be interested in a solution, and in the opinions and point of views of the others.
But usually if it´s about dispute it´s not so much about understanding the other opinion, but to express the own point of view - and some judgement, which of the two opinions is better or worse, while sometimes it´s that way, that none of the participants understands what the other one says. This is then called doing time, or writing / talking for the own entertainment (or: talking past each other)
And of course "understanding" is different in the web in some forum, as most parts, which are necessary for communication, are missing, nor is there any direct feedback. So some people might either only go by their interpretation, as it would be super unnecessary to ask about how every word, and their combination, is meant exactly - or they would ask how something is meant exactly in the hopes for some explanation, so the people could discuss something - or they would tell what they understand by it - or...
I would interpret it as: You open a vague thread, say something vague about it, someone asks what You mean in detail, and You say that You already had this discussion. So it looks like doing time to me, to phrase it this way...
jabberwocky f'thanagon; uschwizts gallagher forthwit.
if your life is words and perceptions then you're always going to struggle against the reality that you're a canard in a rowboat slipping down the stairs in a tumblewood.
you don't 'exist' any more than an air current does. some fart meandering through the atmosphere; barely even there.
the form your mouth makes when you talk about yourself becomes your entire reality; the shape of the words you spek about what you are. the desperate pleas to exist, and for anyone that is real to acknowledge your existence.
that's not existing any more than I can pluck the individual streams out of a river and claim the are a person. whatever it is washes away as soon as it is grabbed, like a handful of sand.
believing I am anything more than a handful of dirt and sand and mud is where my ideas that I might be even less come from. it's where the notion breeds itself, using a person's non-existence as the hollow shell to incubate its own reproduction. becoming even less than a word; certainly less than a person.
a logical progression of nothing.
I've been doing this for about 20 years now, alan is certainly not my only influence but I like the way he explains things. I definitely have coagulated a lot of different teachings into my own understanding...lol, I'm sure into other people's understanding also, sometimes it's easier to show people than to merely tell them. heh. ymmv.
Thats the same thing I tell them.
"The more you make an effort to be genuine, the more of a fool you become"
So what the OP is misunderstanding is that his own trolling is now being hidden behind alan Watts, a truly intelligent person.
Except the OP wishes to hide their antics behind the same barrier.
If I say something, it matters, but if I show you an alan Watts video, it don't.
A troll.
If it is a troll, then that is all it is :) Is it my misunderstanding or a troll? Or neither? oooh You seem confused by the ideas in your head.
I never said I wanted people to be silent to me. Why give my words that meaning when you could have given them any other meaning?
why do you want me to be silent, instead of meaningful?
