stargate ofcourse closed before it's time.

while SGU was a series that nobody wanted or cared for.. it ended on a clifhanger and clearly was ment to have another season.

SGA also ended on a cliffhanger.. and a script was written for another season (there were talks and contracts for at least 2 more FULLY externally funded seasons before mgm went bankrupt" basicly all they needed to do was say yes to leasing the rights.. as verbally agreed but the chinese who bought MGM were just more interested in MGM's vast movie library than saying yes on an already verbally agreed upon rights deal with the leading castmember of SGA.

the SGA movie was also quite far written and parts of it were leaked...

it was still very much populair.. and there was no reason SGA could not have continued for 5 more seasons.. and SG1 likely also had 2 more seasons or at least a few more movies in it.

what killed it was MGM bankrupt.. and scyfy more interesting in non scify series.,.. while also holding the exclusive order rights (meaning no other interested party in usa could at the time say ok we make it)
the fact there was a serious attempt by the canadian actors to make the series themselves out of their own pocket.. due there be PLENTY of money in the licencing rights to other nations and dvd sales.. proves there was plenty of money .. but an american tv studio only cares what it's own audience earns it..

ever since it went brankrupt many attempts to revive it have been attempted.
even sprouting a miniseries (origins) that was however not that well percieved.. (mediocre was the feeling)
it was not feeling like SGA/SGU and thats what the fans will.. it was at best a fan film.. and as such it was okish.. origins was generally given an "mediocre" rating..
demand was there but it will take funds to make it..


other attempts were to ignore all the tv series and make 2 follow up movies for the original stargate movie as if the series never happend (which due mgm shifting hands again.. also got ceized)

than plans were made to actually release 2!! new series that would at least get 4 seaons, by one of the two original writers.. and with many old cast members.. basicly.. it would continue the story where it was left off. but with an in universe gap in years too...
I very much would loved to see this.. but the covid years.. and the writers strike delayed this.. and than amazon bought MGM... meaning ALL negociations had to be done AGAIN..


there was hope amazon would regocnise the gold they have in stargate.. and fund this or another new series either go the route most fans want (a new series with the feel of sga and sg1.. with many old cast.. interwoven in the universe we already know)... or... a full reboot (which most old fans not want.. but which may be more accesable to a new audience)

for now they did NEITHER...

so you want to do it sooner rather than later...

as for what.. personally I prefer the tried and working format.
a new series.. 45 minute episodes, 26 episodes per season.. and many seasons..

I strongly favor continuation of the excisting timeline over a full reboot.
even if that will likely be done mostly with a new cast.. SGA proved that can be pulled off while keeping the feel of the original series.

ofcourse a few plotholes need to be plugged
-what happend with the wraith in pegasus.. with atlantis (that was on earth now)
-with us now being declared the 5th race.. will we reconnect with the other members of that alliance??
-> what about the other human worlds.. many are now lucian aliance.. and that war likely will be a mayor part of any new series...
-> many of the other advanced human worlds have not been seen for many seasons, the hebrides, tolan, langaria, orbans.. we likely should see them again, and form some sort on UN with them.
-> what about the nox.. will they welcome us back.. in the alliance? now all the others are dead.. or are they (them pressing us to unite the human worlds and take over the role to train us into becoming the fiftth race could be a nice arc
-> we should also learn what became of the asgard in pegasus.. and perhaps find a way to revive the asgard (many suggested that the real consiences are stored in the core the asgard left us.. and that we may revive them once we learned how..) basicly they knew they were out of time fixing their genetic problem.. but they recognised that eventually we might solve it for them and bring our buddies back. humans being stubborn.. we might just not want to wait a million years to get there;) the nox may help..
-> what about the unafiliated races.. the giants from the crystal skull where the grandfather of daniel is camping out with... the fishpeople who did the first revolt on earth.. the reetuu.. many races met over the seasons of SG1 that should play a role in any new aliance..
->and who ARE the furlings.. we should meet them perhaps we already had.. if the fishpeople of the mysty giants are them...

***I not care for SGU but even I regocnise that we should learn what happend after their hiatus.. even a verbal remark how their plan to jump in stasis failed... ... but the easteregg of some construction older than the universe.. well that is an interesting thing to discover...


-we also know that 60 years from the original series so basicly 40 years from today.. the stargate is public... so... perhaps first steps towards that need to be made..

a whole new series thus... taking place 15 years after the end of the old series... centered around humans becoming "the firth race" with as main antagonist "the lucian alliance" but remnants of the defeated wraith and guald may be pulled out the closet occationally too *systemlords are gone.. but there may be a few gualds in hiding in a remote corner... they may no longer rule.. does not mean they are all gone..

I personaly would also love for a bit more exploration like season 1.. of sg1.. episodes like the broca divide.. or those mushroom people...
which were more unique.. than later when it became more 1 story cut into episodes..

if more of that cheerfull exploration is added... thats nice..

also what was great about sg1.. was that it was us.. in our time..
hopelessly overpowered...
we now have spaceships with asgard lazers and beaming tech... and more....
it be hard to come from that back to just basics...

but perhaps the whole "nox guiding us into 5th race" could play a part there..

I don't trust the Hollywood of today to pull off another Stargate, or any sequel to any series for that matter. Lately they've just been churning out tons of heavily politicized crap. They inject their left-wing politics into everything and nobody wants to watch it.

The good showrunners have almost all left the building. Reacher is surprising -- just watched season 2, and it's got no "Detected" content at all. It's just good entertainment. Surprising because I didn't think such a thing existed any more.

we only just have been declared the fifth race and have to embrace what that means..
we have only just started a galacy spanning war with the lucian aliance
we still have to discover the furlings
there still is a ton to learn about the ancients and the hunt for living ones is not over we found some before perhaps there are more?

but in general yeah SG1 has been given a good ending with it's last episode and 2 movies all of the above can be done in a new series.

Write a new story if you need good SF. "THE END" shouldn't mean, "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" and you should squeeze more dollars out of a stone.

The end of the Matrix trilogy comes to mind. Heck, even the Oracle said "THAT'S IT. NO MORE."

Ah, but wait. There's more. It's cynical, it's intellectually lazy, and it's bullcrap.

the orvillle showed it can be done..
and the last ghosbusters movie that btw came AFTER that one we must forget woke af spiffoff
shows that it can be done right even after a mayor screwup.


as for the writers... in 2021 tnere were 2 series all in the pipeline.. written by one of the two original writers of sg1.. IN the same universe as sg1 and sga.. with a few old mebers in the cast and others planned as guests.... both series for at least 4 seasons..

but than amazon bought mgm.. and all stagnated again.. basicly that writer tossed in the glove for now.. he not said it would not happen but just that ANY negociations we spend 2 years making to get it greenlit by all parties involved now have to all be done AGAIN...

there IS no end.....

the end would be humans fully estabilised as 5th race... earth leading an interplanetary UN.. the stargate made public knowledge.... with a revived asgard... a revived altarans, nox, and furlings

with timeships departing regulairly.... and wormholedrives common.. and made small .. so stargates can retire..

THAT be an ending...

and we have a LOT of story to tell before we get there.. a LOT of space to explore..
