Although at my current workplace, the co workers are chill af. I don't have to fake anything with them except the big boss who visits every now and then and the office workers. I'm down at the warehouse part and it's basically 'peasants' vs the rich.
I'm very thankfully for where I work today because everyone there gets my humour and I get theirs. I did have to hide this at the interview stage, of course.
You are not selling *you* - you are selling whatever their product/service is and doing chores with an invisible leash on.
and honestly, if it goes wrong, then nothing changes. I'll admit, the company I work for sells some awful smelling ones at times but most are pretty good.
here they generally don't want people that "fit the team" which means you generally see all employees in 1 mcD or burger kind all of the same agegroup and ethniticy..
they won't hire me as a male white guy in a restaurant that has all surinames as employee..
but the reverse generlaly is true too..
here also we have youth minimumwage.. person of 19 costs only 1/3d the wage of a person of 21 and older.. thus if your to old.. they not want you.
here we also have that if you get sick while on the job.. the employee has to keep paying you full wage for however long you are sick.. even if that sickness was already present like depression.. or caused by own behaviour like an accident because of a hobby you do.

legally they may not ask you to your medical history...
but they can ofcourse GUESS
the first red flags to them..
thus people who have long gaps in their cv.. or have switched jobs a lot.. that may signal you are one of those stressed/burn out people.. no ty.
and ofcourse how you present yourself in your talk also has effect.
compagny's will evade risk. they profile.
if say one proifile group has a 1 in 10000 chance to get a dropout that looses them money..
but another has 3 in 10000... they WONT hire anybody in that second group?
even though still 99.7% of them are perfectly fine workers.
it makes just no buisnuiss sense to accept 3 times the risk.
so to become hirable.. you must try to fit in another profile group.
