Men's mental health month
It's pride month yet again! Good i love giving even more attention to the lgbtq+ community this month even tho they get attention year round. Also a small detail, did you know that it is men's metal health month this month?
Did you also know a man in the uk commits suicide every hour? For every 2 depressed women we have 1 depressed man and the suicide rate of men to women is 2:1, crazy i know! We should give more attention to men's mental health in general.

Good, men's mental health status is a major problem.

After the ♥♥♥♥ i've been through i'm fairly certain therapy is nothing but a way to keep tabs on potentially dangerous people, they are all full of ♥♥♥♥ and have no interest in making your life better, all they want is to brainwash you into being like everyone they deem as normal and healthy, you are honestly better of on your own and exiled from this absurd society, ever since i gave up social media and trying to be social i am so much happier, i accept who i am and i do what makes me happy and i dont give a ♥♥♥♥ what society or anyone part of it thinks, go your own way this world is a game of clowns.

The problem with the mental health movement is that a lot of people want to talk about it and raise "awareness" but few are willing to put in the personal time to try and help people with mental health issues.

Mental health is a hoax by the woke left.

To simply say it is a hoax is overstating the obvious and tangible, but understating the significance. Mental health as a set of working theories, a field of science, a biological understanding, a service or practice...these are good helpful things, they are valid and though I think the term "mental health" is a bit misleading, it seems to be fine with everyone. It is a frankenstein of working theories, pragmatism, using loose data to "best guess" diagnose people. This is all well and fun, you know, people NEED these services, the cases that really matter don't even need diagnosed they are obvious on first sight. But turning it into an industry combined with drug companies, government and private institutions with no oversight is a very dangerous proposition, it causes people to be abused because profits and political agendas, control. I'm guessing. Grain of salt. :steamsalty: I'm guessing your comment was a joke anyway, so I figured I would do my due diligence just in case it wasn't.

That's simply untrue. There are many therapists and mental health professionals that provide low cost or no cost assistance. Working with a therapist, however, is always the individual's job & responsibility.

Going to a therapist doesn't mean a person is suddenly "cured" from anything. They have to put in the work and that is what I've seen is the major problem for many who need such help. Mental health issues affect more women then men; however, less men reach out for help. Removing the stigma has been a big turning point in mental health but there still exists our toxic culture that perpetuates the problems.
Well, those are paid professionals. I'm talking about the people that exist around the mentally affected. Like you said, a lot of people don't always get the help they need and so often it falls on those in the immediate vicinity of that person, but what will and can they do? From what I've seen, unless someone has a very strong support system around them, like multiple close family and friends, they probably won't have someone to talk to. If you're from the States like I am, you're probably used to hearing "how are you?" but most people don't mean it. The same thing applies to the affected. To significantly help someone, you have to put time and effort into their problems and those are things that most people seem to only have enough of for themselves and maybe a few others. You talk about men not reaching out a lot....part of that is because other men mostly aren't going to care or have an answer and I would assume it'd be even worse for a man to reach out to a woman in that regard. I had bad substance/alcohol abuse problems for a little less than half my life. Do you know how many people could see it? A lot, yet none helped me get clean. I had to do it myself and I did. I was surrounded by people, but none made any effort to help me. That's not rare by any means.

You're talking to the wrong one. I have had a heart to help people for most of my life. I've -unfortunately, in a few cases- been part of that support system you're talking about. I've been there for people who knew they needed help, would cry for help then cry wolf again and again, then use and abuse the very help you're talking about "lacking.' Then go on to say they had no one who cared about them, especially at their lowest. Nah. Some people are just cowards tbh and they use their conditions to hurt people. It takes strength to admit when there is a problem. It takes courage to seek help and even more so, to take the necessary steps toward healing. A human being can only hold so much grace, patience, love and humility before realizing it's just being used by someone else.

And when I say I was unfortunately part of such support systems, I say as such because all of that love and time and energy was wasted on such that didn't want to get better. There are people who use and abuse those closest to them and mental illness doesn't excuse it.

To be clear, not all people I've been there for have been this way -on the contrary- but such people are definitely out there and they are of no help to themselves nor anyone else.
I also speak from experience in which I had to be a therapist/support system and did whatever to help, but just got used again and again. It left my mental health in a dire state and I just couldn't afford to keep doing it. I get that people need support, but you can't blame someone from just staying out of people's business. Everyone is tired and dealing with their own s**t. If you are fortunate enough to have someone and don't abuse them then that is a great start. But you should not blame people for not helping you. Seek professional help who have the expertise and dedicated time.

honestly, agreed

we should pay attention to how heteronormative standards hurt men
make them link their worth to whether or not they can get a partner or have kids
they limit their experiences in bed to only a sliver of what they could do because anything else is considered gay
they feel like they can't express their emotions because it would somehow emasculate them, and likewise they oftentimes can't explore themselves because this world and its expectations have made them fear or dislike the possibility that they may not be cishet
