American teachers earn as little as McDonald's workers
Fast food workers in California: $20 per hour
Average American teacher pay: $21 per hour

Why become a teacher and start your life with $250,000 in debt,
when you can drop out of high school and get paid just as much
for throwing greasy fries at customers.

Teaching American students sounds like hell
McDonald's is too powerful

California vs the rest of the country is not a fair metric.
Considering the fact they do not work the whole year and use the same lesson plan from 2008, I say they are overpaid daycare.

$20 a hour living in California is not enough to live. Plus the mcdonalds near me only pay about $15-17

I work in IT at a school and I make less than the teachers.

Yes the teachers are underpaid.

A quick look at the rash of chain fast food places closing tells you the $20 an hour was an intentional disaster.

teacher is an entry level job, same as fast food worker

You're comparing the California wage with the average American teachers wage. It's dishonest.

Still, teachers are way underpaid. Especially with what they have to deal with now.

Lolwat?
That isn't true. Teacher requires a degree (afaik) and also requires a very comprehensive background check.
This sounds like a troll post. No way in hell a teacher earns that low. Salaried teachers with degree earn minimum 75K a year and can go higher with experience.

Teacher's aide/ Teacher assistant earns minimum 45K and higher with degree.

Macdonald's worker dont earn anywhere close as Teacher.

Because you would be psychologically, no better off as a McDonald's worker.

Generally and one sure better hope... otherwise, I guess we've got some problems.
(...To say the least!)

That being said, I don't think most people could work at the former for more than 3 years.

You don't say.

Agreed, they are underpaid that correct. Teacher's earnings are miles away from Macdonald's worker. The OP didn't get the teacher's earnings correctly. Los Angles county teachers earn the same amount as doctors which is very high.

some teaching positions do require a degree but not all.. mcdonalds also has positions that require prior education

requiring a degree is common at many entry level positions
