So according to many reports if the chip dies inside the playstation 4 your games will probably die as well even if you own them physically.Quote: When the battery dies, it trips a switch inside the console that requires the system to connect to the PlayStation Network and confirm the time. Ars Technica states that the PS3 checks in the first time you play a downloaded game, while the PS4 also connects to PSN when you play retail games purchased on disc. If these checks are not performed at least once after a CMOS battery replacement, the console will not run the affected content.
So let’s hope sony wont shut down the servers for the last gen store as well....(you have to be very optimistic)

This is what I mean, trying to use it without internet after you changed the batteries.
This is not something that I would do with one of my devices, I would rather search for a store that offer this service if I needed it, but if someone is comfortable enough about what they are doing to do it they can try right now.

I can still play games with internet off. And I remember back in late December 2014 when PSN was DDoS'ed for a few days, I was still able to play digital games and unlocked trophies would start syncing when PSN was back up.
