The change is quite dumb though LMFAO
First off, the wiki seems very dishonest as it states
"In the original Japanese version, Vivian is a transgender woman who describes herself as one of "the three shadow sisters". She is subsequently scolded by Beldam, who misgenders her, calling her a man."
But this is up to interpretation, beldam could be calling her a man as an insult, just like in the English version lol. Of course the wiki doesn't actually provide any Japanese text for you to translate to prove any kind of point either.
This reddit post seems much more honest as it actually provides you with Japanese text to contrast to the English text.
"A lot of people are claiming the conversation between Vivian and Mario in twilight town is more faithful now in the remake as it mentions Vivian being their sister and not their brother. As the other thread was locked (no surprises there), I’m here to show that this was not the case in the japanese GC version.
The english GC version is actually way more faithful to the original, ironically. Here is the exact original script right before the kiss. You can translate it for those of you who don’t speak japanese:
あなたの名前と体… それとおともだちをとりもどすお手伝いをするわ! いいの いいの、アタイのことは気にしないで どうせお姉さまたちといっしょにいてもちょっともいいことないし… それにあなとのやさしいキモチにアタイもこたえたいの kiss
Not a single mention of anything relating to her being a boy/girl, that is all new to the remake in this conversation specifically."
"Why do people always seem to ignore that Vivian refers to herself as a "sister"? She says "we're the three sisters (三姉妹)" in the original, so unless sister has a very different meaning in Japan, I'm pretty sure she's referring to herself as female.
Like this isn't even a "Japanese pronouns are different!" kinda thing, she literally says sister. You can't paint over that one.'
In the original Japanese iteration of the game, Vivian is written as a transgender individual – Goombella’s “Tattle” skill, which lists enemy descriptions, had
カゲ三人組の一人だった オンナのコのようで
ホントは オトコのコ
(“One of the shadow group, Vivian appears to be a girl but is really a boy.”)

Also remember, that Samus's gender was also hidden at the beginning.
Posers don't know the lore.
Nintendo did the first trans character.
