How long?
How long does it take you to download 159.3 GB?

I'm downloading (again) Forza Horizon 5, as I just got the urge to play it again after a year off.

Started downloading at 8:30 AM EST. It's got 2h:13m to go. Estimated time when I started was more than 12 hours.

I have CenturyLink and pay for exactly 25mbps which is 3.2Gb/s. Which used to be a lot.

EDIT: "which is 3.2Mb/s.", thanks potato.

uhm what, how is 25mbps == 3.2gb/s?

Sorry, I always do that -- I meant 3.2Mb/s.

Will edit with correction.

I'm just curious -- I can't get fiber out here in the sticks, I don't believe -- but how much does that cost per month and is it also part of a TV package like mine is?

Shiro you can download Forza Horizon 5 in 7 or 8 minutes?

WTF

I feel like I have a 56K modem by comparison.

Aside: what speed was a 56K modem in terms of mbps? A lot slower than 25 mbps, right? Because with what I pay for I can have a 4K tv going plus a download. With slight blurriness on the TV because of the download. I don't believe 56K modems could push that.

I remember someone getting 1 MBps in 2001 or so. difficult to believe they could download a whole game in 10 minutes or so.
I can download gta 5 in about 20 minutes.

I should ask my Aside: question in the HW&OS forum.

Normally my 25mbps isn't a problem. FH5 just happens to be the biggest game in my library, by far. RDR2 is like half that size, I believe, and it's number 2.

Most of my games are tiny, under 10GB.

Thanks, potato.

Also, thanks. RDR2 would be 10 hours download if I wanted to play it again.

I deleted all my giant-sized AAA Steam games, as I have completely lost interest in them, about a week ago. The only ones I had left were RDR2 and Horizon:Zero Dawn, and deleted those too.

Now I have 3 TB of space, no interest in AAA gaming -- besides occasional Diablo 3, and even more rarely, I play Diablo 4 just to see if it's fun yet -- and about 60 indie and AA games.

You really need at least 100 mbps these days with the size some of this stuff has.
Masque May 23, 2024 @ 7:19pm
Which would make FH5 a four hour download.

:sigh: :amadeus_happy:
