Is DuckDuckGo down?
The search engine hasn't been working for hours now!

It's back up now. DuckDuck uses Bing as a back-end, and it was Bing's fault.

DuckDuckGo itself wasn't having issues.

Rather it was the Bing API (application programming interface), which went down via some changes done by Microsoft. It's what is used to communicate with others.

The Bing API is used by various other websites/apps, causing them to temporary go down with it. Including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and DuckDuckGo, etc.

From a quick search, Cogent does have a track record of corporate mistakes in the name of profit. So the old adage applies "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity" aka good ol' Hanlon's razor.
