Some doctors are just A-hole
some doctors just think that having a title MD/DO apparently made them god. The narcissism, the privilege, the righteousness of how they treat other people as if these humans are below them. They're blinded by power, the title of MD/DO written on their forehead, screaming for attention and special treatment/respects even if they treat other human being like dirt. My mother once told me, medical professionals are cold-hearted people, they have to be cold in order to do this kind of job, the job that everyone think that you had to have compassion and empathy in order to do it, but most of the healthcare places are filled with cold hearted people. Any thoughts?

There are such and such people everywhere. Doctors too, of course.

It's an awkward thing to get into. He died a few days after he did what I thought crossed the line. But talking to other doctors and professionals later in life made me aware it was wrong.
Sorry to have asked. If you feel more comfortable I can delete my question. I'm glad that person never hurt you again though.
No it's ok, I don't mind sharing. It was a strange experience all round.

*I'm not sure if I ever told it in full detail. I might if it feels cathartic.

Yeah. Anyone who has worked in a medical field, or setting can tell you, a person's profession doesn't determine their personality. Doctors are people, same as the rest of us, and that comes with ALL of the faults. It's not as simple as 'they are doing a good thing, so they must be good'

There are some nice doctors and some horrible doctors, I've met over the years.

They are just people at the end of the day. Some people can be okay, others are stinkers.

they're there to do a job... and part of that is showing you (the patient) that you need to toughen up...:-)

Why do you always derail the thread? And then add negative nonsense to it. Do better.

I don't. Hey what did you do to get banned again. Do better...

There are few doctors that I've spoken to where I felt that they were extremely rude/unpleasant. Most doctors I've met are compassionate and caring people. Does that mean all doctors are angels sent from Heaven? No, but it doesn't mean that they are all bad people. Some doctors do let their education and qualifications get to them, but it's not a dime a dozen. To be fair, they go through years of schooling in order to get to where they are at now, so I can understand where they come from. Not that I agree, but I can see how they might have a sense of ego (at least some).

Just a friendly advice to anyone who takes the time to read this.
Whatever medical evaluation you receive and whatever you get diagnosed with, nothing is set in stone and is not necessarily a fact. Some doctors are shills that will intentionally trick you into thinking you need special, expensive treatments from them, and I urge anyone in this position to consider getting more evaluations from different doctors, as many as you see fit.

"Create the disease, sell the cure" is a real thing, and some of them have no values or morals and would lie/damage you just to get their bread. Don't fall for this.

It’s quite odd to generalize something so easily. I'm a medical student, so I have firsthand experience with what you're talking about. I’d say you're mistaking a rough bunch for everyone. You could meet good ones or bad ones, as at the end of the day, they’re just people. The medical field is one of the most difficult academic fields, especially if a specialty is involved, which requires multiple decades of insufferable stress. People can get desensitized quickly and lose the concept of empathy in this field. It is nothing personal, but they don’t owe you anything. As House MD states, "Treating illness is why we became doctors. Treating patients is what makes most doctors miserable." I hope you have a better experience next time, but I can't guarantee that if you live in America or the UK

As for the ego and god complex, it's probably due to all that pulling people back from the brink of death. You're kind of left out in that field. Either doctors become suicidal, or they develop weird personalities, which isn't really a problem as far as I've seen. They can get annoying, but most of the time they've earned it. Also, medicine isn't really a field where money can buy respect; you'd be hated for that by your own colleagues, let alone by others~
Stranger 23 maj, 2024 @ 20:01
there are a lot of fields centered around moneymaking where drawing in the dollars does infact get you respect. such as plastic surgery, or sleep medicine.

if the ama declares your field valid then it's disrespectful to challenge the financial focus it engenders. you're becoming a narcisstic god-complex doctor in that instance, going against the flow by challenging the profit motive.

not only making yourself look like a rogue one-person planet, but revealing that other doctors are too.

it harms the field at large by swaying people's perceptions of it.

just like a non-doctor defending doctors does the same thing, covering the excesses of actually abusive practitioners for the sake of ones own faith in medicine.
