tedious things in gaming
i got into the pathless and its a neat mix of zelda botw, journey, bowsers fury and SOTC
the map is massive and beautiful, but thats also a problem while hunting for extra items, these item tokens you collect like you would with stars for mario or the seeds in zelda, and due to the size of the map, finding these gets very tedious, boring and dull, plus the fact you have stamina and this game has the weirdest concept of it, you recharge stamina by hitting target... WTF! does the character get excited when you hit one? without energy to run, you move at a snails pace plus the large map all makes it ultra tedious and this is a problem with alot of games
you have this vision power to see hidden things but is useless the more you find
that said, the reward better be worth it, not some troll ♥♥♥♥, looking at you botw with your golden turd

also, the game has no map

too many enemies and bad camera
bashing or shooting enemies non stop, worse if damage sponge with high attack and more keep showing is crazy

i want upgrades for my trouble and time spent. not more of the same crap of minor rewards

item collecting
finding very little and you still dont have enough for the next upgrade or whatever

no means of choosing what ability you can get. prince of persia had a cool rpg element
it let you what powers you could pick next, but once you had everything, you would still get points with nothing to spend on

star link atlas had the same problem

grinding for parts
gundam breaker and the mobile game are tedious when you wana make your dream mobile suit or a existing one but dont have the parts
and no way to level up

Bosses that have very little attacks and pattern which rely purely on damage to be difficult.
There is nothing more boring.

Escort missions
Motion control puzzles. If I could use the analog stick it would take me about 3 seconds. But nope I have to look like an insane person wiggling my arms in circles and tilting things and yelling at the screen.

Poor inventory and inventory management by far, often deliberate to prolong the game time.

grindy repetitive gameplay disguised as quests or content really pisses me off

Anything involving a timer or protecting stupid AI.
Stupid weapon wear. I'm sorry, that guy stabbed me like 2 dozen times, and I get four uses of it?

Same hoes for enemies that have unlimited ammo, don't have to reload, and apparently have unlimited grenades In their bum.

My favorite, or used to be, is almost ruined by poor management...setting wayyyy too high grind for late tier things & such.

They ruined a gem with too high repair costs, thousands & thousands of micro transactions schemes & matchmaking issues, plus a few gamebreaking bugs thats been around for years. Lack of qol updates the community has been asking for for 5+ years etc.

So i.would say, devs, or the ones in charge of the economy side & grind of some games - who never played the damn thing themselves.

"Ooh how can we squeeze as many dollars as possible from our players" ending up ruining the whole thing when taking it too far. A 9/10 (what should be) game became an.average 5/10...

Quests that involve the player traveling across the map, and speaking to an NPC to receive two lines of dialogue that essentially tells the player to then go all the way back to where they came from.

Quests that involve acquiring a resource to progress which spawns in a bunch of chests at random, thus leading to the player running around in a tunnel for five minutes for effectively no real reason.

Quests that involve using various items that (a lot of the time) cannot easily be acquired in or around the area in which the quest takes place, and results in teleporting to the shop multiple times throughout the duration of the quest, or using a guide to gather them beforehand.

Basically what I'm saying is: I don't like RuneScape's (old) quests. They have so much unnecessary running-around sections, or game design which just makes absolutely no sense.
Cinematics combined with Quicktime Events... let me watch the scene or let me play but not this annoying bs...

I stopped playing World of Warcraft (twice) because of the endless grind required to craft gear when you hit level 20-30.

This is so true. Even a non grindy game can feel tedious because it doesnt have a proper UI
