this is probably bad advice but ive gotten to level 4 music in piano with an inability to read notes
i dont know how far you have gotten with guitar but ive learned a little but basically just know your coords and it will be easy
Not bad advice at all, Thank you.
If you work hard enough and practice, it's always within the realm of possibility that you could play Canon Rock. Wow, I should take my own advice - minus - that "Canon Rock" part. :P
2 hours will be hard. I get easily distracted, but its something I have to do.
"Even If you really don't want to." Isn't that still forcing? Lol, I get what you're saying. Does every 1 of my replies get sent to everyone even when I quote? I'm sorta new to this, so I hope it doesn't annoy anyone. Thank You.
Forget about learning where each note is on the fretboard, it's a waste of time in the long run.
For right now, I would focus two things: learning the different major/minor chords and learning how to strum. Those two things are the first essential lessons I teach my students.
A simple chord progression you can learn right now:
G Major - D Major - E Minor - C Major
The first thing to learn is how to play each individual chord (you teach yourself by googling the tabs).
Once you've mastered that, strum each chord for 4 beats and then play the next chord until you complete the progression.
Tip: When strumming, it's helpful to count the beat out loud (One, two, three four, One, two, three, four). This helps you to stay on the beat.
Whew!!! Saves me some time then. Thanks a lot man. I'll google the Tabs as soon as I get the chance. Really does help.
Disagree. No pain no gain; the trick is to be consistent with practice, if all you can do is 30 minutes, an hour or two each day - do it every day you can. Don't make the mistake of "making up" for lost days by overdoing it.
Let us start another grand journey.
You can have gain without pain !
Sure, he could probably learn by doing two minutes each day, but I also assume he wants to get good before he turns 90.
"Everything that you want to do is fun and everything you have to do is work."
Or something along those lines.
Besides, unless someone is in a hurry, nothing wrong with taking their time with things. And learning guitar doesn't take that long if some of the new random bands are anything to go by.
