Every game is dying.
Watch a video on literally any game and you will so those people that say things like.

"Wow people still play this?"

"________ is dying"

"I remember when this game wasn't dying"

I honestly dont get the mentality of these people because it basically all boils down to "I dont like this game anymore so it must be dying because I said so" honestly what's up with that?

People forgot how to live.

It's a metaphorical generalization. TF2 is dead in enough aspects to just apply the term to the whole thing.

Some terrible games deserve immediate death, literally only the fanatics play that tho.

People get bored and assume others get bored too.

Oh don't forget: the PC as a gaming format will be SUPER dead 'REAL SOON NOW' for the last every single year since about 1990.

Yeah but I mean there will be a game with 2mil+ players a day and people will say "This game is dead"

It's also a hipster mentality.

"I was into this before it was popular, and popularity ruined it for me."

Witness fans of bands like Phish or Foo Fighters.

Ricochet will never die.

I don't think any of the YouTubers that I watch have ever said that a game is dying.

So two arguments to be made here.

1) Some games can theoretically have dying communities (as in population declines in multiplayer-only games, I've seen it happen, and I'm sure you have as well if you think hard enough)

2) Some people as you said follow that mentality that for reason 'x' this game is no longer good, so it is dying and everyone must think the same....this argument by those people claiming the games are dying is flawed.

This is more geared twords people in the comments that state the game is dead for literally no reason.

You just reminded me I still haven't played DOOM 2. Need to do that.

Seriously, a good game is a good game, regardless of age. Maybe a multiplayer game can "die" if there is literally no one playing it, but as long as the servers are up nothing stops you and a few friends from joining a game and have fun. So I don't get the "this game is dead" attitude either.

That's what you get when a game is based on how many others play it at any given moment. Eventually people moves on to play other things.

That's why I spend my money on multiplayer games that have a solid single player experience. Either by having bots for single play or have a solid PvE section one can play on its own.

I thank Valve for being of the few who still implement a solid Bot feature for their games (If ONLY CSGO bots worked in Danger Zone... That'd be perfect) but it has become a dying art to care about single play in multiplayer games.

It's funny when one sees I can still boot up Quake3 and launch a bot game while way more recent games can't simply be blayed.
